Wow!  It's been so long since I've updated any news on here.  Sorry for that.  But, as I always say...no news is good news.

Cali Jo is doing pretty good these days.  She is enjoying her summer swimming, swimming and swimming!  LOL  She feels so free in the water.  She is back to the growing stage of life after chemo, which means becoming a bit uneven.  She is due for a lengthening in August down in Memphis so her left leg and side compensates a lot for being off a cm in her weaker leg.  She feels it in her hips, her foot especially and her knee.  It is hard to walk without a very noticeable limp.  So...being in the water makes all that disappear.  Can't say I blame her.  Plus, where else should you be in these 100 degree, humid days??

Many of you may already know that Cali Jo was asked to represent Pekin's American Cancer Society's Relay for Life as their Honorary YOUTH Survivor this year.  We just attended her honorary dinner where Cali Jo presented her story with a grand speech.  She inspires me everyday.  I'm very proud of her.  I am posting some new pics of her at the dinner so make sure to check those out.

Cali is also attending summer school to brush up on the struggles she has from missing so much of her 4th grade year.  The school and I agree that she remain in 5th grade again this fall as a Medical Repeat.  She just isn't quite ready to move on to 6th.  Cali knows this is probably best but as a normal child struggles with being left behind while her classmates move on.  I know the struggle is temporary, but it will take some time for her.  I just know she will feel so much better when she catches up.  Other than that, Cali looks forward to attending Camp CoCo again this year in July.

Cali Jo also had an experience she will NEVER forget.  She met her Father for the 1st time.  I'm so glad prayers were answered, which reached her Dad by circumstance and brought them together to know one another.  This is a very big deal for a little girl who for awhile thought he was a character I created for her.  This brings such wholeness to her life.  Praise God!

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful 4th of July!
