People often inquire as to how Caleb is doing, so we thought we’d post an update to his CaringBridge site. Caleb is growing and is growing up. Well beyond the baby stage, he is 19 months old and all toddler now! He loves to run and climb. Summer was fun as he loved to be outside, whether swinging and sliding at the park, running around during his brothers’ baseball games, riding in his bike trailer, throwing or kicking a ball, helping water Mom’s flowers, or playing in the sandbox. Now that we are inside more, he enjoys looking at books, building with blocks, driving cars and trucks, listening to music, and “helping” around the house. Caleb seems to understand most everything we say to him, but we are not as good at deciphering what he tells us. He says about ten words that we can understand, plus he uses another eight sign language signs (his favorite being “more please”). At the end of September he had a language screening, which he passed. Today was his LAST neurologist appointment! She said he was doing very well and does not need to return for another appointment with her, unless we or his pediatrician have concerns in the future. Praise God! Caleb did have minor surgery in September to open a clogged tear duct, which he has had since birth. He had to be put under for the procedure, but the worst part for him was not being allowed to eat that morning. Thanks for the continued thoughts and prayers for Caleb. I have begun to work on a scrapbook for Caleb and have enjoyed going back to re-read the guestbook entries many of you wrote. They are great reminders of the love and support we received from our family and friends and of the awesome power of our God!
