Dearest Betty, So shocked and sorry to hear of Bud's death.  Don't know what to say really.  Reading through the messages it is clear he was a man much loved and cherished and held in such high esteem.   So good to know how many people were so touched by knowing him.   We all have great memories of Bud, but you and the family have the treasure trove.   I think I will most remember his dry sense of humor based on his wise perception of this crazy old world.  I commend you and your family for the way you have dealt with this, with such dignity and honor as he so deserved.  My deepest condolences.

Dear Betty, Ann Marie, Lisa & David,

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I sign your guest book today.  Bud and your entire family were like family to us all while growing up.  I'll always remember Buds hysterical and yet dry since of humor, his grin, his pipe, his birds, his wood carvings, his god given ability to take that perfect photo, the days at Wolverton.  I'll always be thankful to Bud for sharing the knowledge of his photo universe, and his kindness for sharing his secrets and cameras.  And I'll always be thankful for being part of that "magical" week during Easter vacation in Mineral King with the Kilburn family.  Spending that winter week hiking, skiing, sledding, driving Ski-doos, crashing Ski-doos, having Dad and Bud tow us behind the Thical, laughing, admiring the beauty of the snow covered mountains, posing and making faces while Bud took pictures of all of us, eating those great meals that Wanda and Betty made, sitting by the fire, and most of all............... watching Bud, Betty, Joe & Wanda drink wine, laugh and relax after a hard day of having fun!  There will only be one "Bud Kilburn", and I'll always be so thankful to be a small part of his life.
Bud, go be with the Lord, and continue on with your next journey.

Sincerely,

Jody Wollenman

To Betty and family.
On behalf of the Sierra Traditional Jazz Club I want to express our sadness at the loss of Bud.  He documented so much of the early activities of the club and the band and we have his photos to remind us of all of the early fun we had.  On a personal note, I will always remember those times visiting with Bud.  He was truly a friend to many.
We are truly saddened and our thoughts will be with you.

Dear Kilburn Family,
The Pehrsons were saddened to learn of Bud's death.  It was a surprise to learn about it.

Bud and John became school board members at the same times and worked for change.  They were successful in their efforts.  It made for a special kinship.  It's now a memory.

We're looking forward to the Celebration of Life of Bud.

Sincerely,
John and MaryBeth Pehrson

Dear Betty, Lisa, David and Ann,

Bud was one of the first people I met when I started teaching at Woodlake High.  He came into my room with his camera around his neck just to “check things out”.   I was a new teacher in a new community and he made me feel very welcome.   From that time on our family albums have lots of great photos from Bud’s collection.  He has been the local historian.  You could always count on Bud to bring photos and later CD’s of any event he attended.  His humor and his talent will be greatly missed.

Betty, you and Bud had such a special relationship and raised such a great family.  You are so lucky to have been blessed with so many happy memories.  I feel blessed to have been able to get to know you and your wonderful family.

Dear Betty and family,
I was so shocked to read about Bud in this morning's paper.  Several months ago I saw him in Costco and had a great visit with him.  Such good memories of working with him at Kaweah Delta Water Conservation District....he was like a surrogate father to me as a young woman in an all male office.  He was the photographer at my wedding and even arranged for me to go to the coast with you (Betty) when my husband was in Vietnam.  He and I had some long talks when we worked together and I could always count on him to bring a smile to my face :)
Bud was a special man and dear friend to me.  He leaves behind a rich legacy.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.
Love,  Janis Prior Garber

Dear David,

Denise and I are sending you and your family love and condolences from Long Beach. We had the pleasure of meeting your father at the quilt in SLO last year. We enjoyed his great sense of humor and his wonderful photos. He seemed really happy showing us his aerial photos of the quilt. I mean, how cool was that? He went up in a plane and took photos of the quilt! I remember thinking at the time that this man seems like a really joyful, involved and wonderful father.

Take care David. We miss you and are thinking about you and your family. Love you.

Dear David & Family,

I am truly sorry for your loss.  Bud was such a great guy!  I will remember his smile and his spirit.  One of my memories of him, was when the AIDS Quilt was last in town and he got to go up in the plane to take pictures... he was so jazzed.  I think that through his pictures he found a way to connect us all.

I am sure he is charming all of the angels in heaven !!

I am so sorry and so sad. Bud was one of the funniest and most talented people I have known. Growing up with you guys, I always looked forward to seeing him and laughing at his silliness. My mom and dad dearly loved him.
I am so grateful for all the family photos he took of us over the years. I will never forget him.
May your hearts be full of love and comfort in your memories. You are all blessed to have him in your lives.
He was truly one of a kind.
