Bryce was diagnosed with Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma 3/25/06. His primary site was in the calf with involvement in two lymph nodes and lung making him a stage IV. After one year of chemo and radiation, he is off of treatment 2/23/07. His scans were clear at #2 of the 16 chemo rounds! He is a rambunctious 6 year old.

In every moment our family, friends, and God is with us.

We saw Dr Tai today. He is Bryce's Orthopaedic Surgeon. Bryce's leg is 1 1/2 inch shorter than his other leg. At this point we have to give him special shoes that will elevate his left leg to be equal to his right leg. Dr Tai stated that we should continue with Dr Diab at UCSF in the summer of 2009 for leg lengthening procedures. Dr Diab wants to go into the good leg and surgically alter the growth plates to slow it's growth. Then on the left leg he wants to fracture it and put it in pins and traction to lengthen it. He would be in external pins and traction for about 6 months while the pins had tension on them to pull them apart, therefore make the leg longer. He is seeing growth issues in the femur and tibia and fibula. He thinks that this would have to happen to his femur (upper leg) and tibia ( lower leg). It makes Ed rithe in pain and me sad. I need to keep in mind that it is by God's blessing that we are even here at this point with Bryce. We have had larger issues to deal with and more life threatening issues to deal with. So thank you God we are here with Bryce and I know that God will get us through this next part.
