    Dear Team Olson,

It has been a blessing to have your journals on CaringBridge out here in western ND, Minot.

This passage from Romans speaks of love never ending, it was one of my favorites when going through treatment.

...neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.   Romans 8:39

May each coming day have love and joy to balance the grief that is part of your lives,

    Angie and Dave Speiser

Thinking about Clare, Sheldon OlsonKatie Olson and Kristie North as they get through there first holiday without Bruce. I felt bad for Clare opening memorial cards thinking it should have been wedding cards! The Rat Pack has been very supportive and I want to thank them, not only during the last few weeks but for welcoming Bruce into the group and also because they are hosting the golf benefit AND as a wedding gift they are going to paint Bruce and Clare's house...how awesome are they!!!!! It still amazes me that people are so generous, giving and loving. To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there. ~Barbara Bush......thank you to all of you for being part of "our" family through this tough journey!Deaune

My family and I have been in
Jamaica the last week, so I missed  two events that sound like fantastic
celebrations of the life of one of the most likable people I've ever
known.  I hoped that the services for Bruce would be early this week so I
could be there, but when my son told me they were having a "social
gathering" for him on a Friday night, I thought, what could be more
appropriate?  I think Bruce is in a better place now.  He was definitely
not one of the most religious people I've ever known, but by the way he
lived his life--that sense of humor, his ability to give a kid a pat on
the back when he needed it, and his ability to tell kids the brutal
truth when that was what was needed, and his true caring for
people--made him more truly "Christian" than most of us.  It's hard to
accept the fact that next year I'm not going to see Bruce in the halls
walking down from the gym bantering with kids with that grin he seemed
to always have on on his face.  I loved his hilarious stories, I loved
griping about those things teachers and coaches gripe about with him,  I
loved talking hockey with him, and I loved talking American Idol with
him.  I know he had friends who were much closer to him than me, but
it's impossible to express how much I'm going to miss him.

    To the Entire Team Olson,

I will be unable to make it to Bruce's service tomorrow, so I wanted to send one final message. I share in your grief. I lost a truly wonderful friend and teammate. Bruce was a unique individual who had a terrific outlook on just about everything he encountered. I am so sorry to know that he is gone, and want you all to know how much I did enjoy my time with him. He was a gem; and i actually, probably, got to know him better, after our time together at UMD. I'm sure he will be missed by so many, as I feel a great personal loss. May I just say God bless Bruce, and God bless you all. It seems so unjust, but in this case the thought that comes to mind is that "only the good die young"!

My son Will and I traveled to Bemidji from Louisiana many years ago to attend a bantom hockey camp and Bruce was his team coach.  Bruce took a liking to Will and was as proud of him as I was, when Will scored his first goal in the team tournament at the end of the camp.  Bruce awarded Will the "most improved player" at the final award ceromony.  Bruce was a super guy and had a great influence on my son and for that I am truly grateful.  What a wonderful man and coach - the world needs more like him!
