Brittany's Status and St. Baldrick's Day:
Hello Brittany Fans! It has been a long time since I have updated Brittany's journal. No news is good news! Brittany is doing great! She is in the 2nd Grade at Quail Creek Elemetary. She is active in gymnastics and she is going to play softball this year. She is the funnest person to spend time with. Her experience with cancer has made her a very strong and compassionate person. She also wakes up in good mood every morning. She goes to clinic once every 6 months for a blood test. Her next one is in June.
During our journey with cancer, so many of you gave us hope, held fundraisers, included Brittany in art shows, fashion shows, special events like cheering at the Hornet's game, donated money and most importantly, prayed for Brittany. During that time, I was so depressed and worried I would lose Brittany that it was hard to focus on what people were doing for us. I am so thankful for each and everyone of you and now it is time to give back. I want to invite cancer survivors and ones who lost loved ones to cancer to put their handprint on the St. Baldrick's Cancer Survivor and Memorial "Hands of Love" Mural. This Sunday, March 22nd, from 1pm-4pm, we will be creating a handprint mural at Hot Dog Park located 32nd and North Classen (please park off of 32nd behind Dunkin Donuts). There will live music, hula-hooping, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk and plenty of space to have a picnic. From 2:00pm to 4pm, VZD's, located 42nd and North Western, will be celebrating "St. Baldrick's Shaving of the Heads". This is where people shave their heads in memory of someone who has had cancer, in honor of someone, or because they just want to. They shave their heads for a donation that goes to pediatric cancer research. After 4:00pm, there will be live bands, food and beverages. I hope you can be a part of this great event!
This is a start in "paying it forward". Thank you Brittany Fans!
