Written Jul 9, 2013 9:28am by Becky KleikampMonday we went back down to see the Neurosurgeon (Dr. Griffitt) in Green Bay. He said Britney's incisions look good and we can start radiation and chemotherapy today!!. We raced back home for an 11:15 appt. at DCH for Brits 1st round of radiation. She did very well. Radiation will be given in the am and chemotherapy will be given in the pm. Thank you again for all of the support we have been given~you all are truly blessings. We will meet with the Green Bay Oncologist on Wednesday to see if Britney is tolerating the treatment or if he needs to adjust it.

First of all....A big thank you to all of our family, friends, community and all others who made Britney's Benefit a huge success!!! The support has been absolutely amazing!!
We went to see the Neurosurgeon on July 1 in Green Bay. They said her incisions look good, however it is still too soon to start radiation/chemo. as her scares are not healed enough. Therefore, we go back down to see the Neurosurgeon on Monday again. We also saw the Oncologist from Green Bay on Wednesday to discuss the radiation/chemo. that she will be starting soon. She will be getting 5 days a week of radiation and 7 days a week of chemo. This will last approximately 6 weeks depending on how Britney does with it. She also needs to have breathing treatments done once a month to prevent pneumonia. We started her first breathing treatment at DCH on Friday, July 5. Brit said it didn't taste too good.... She is still doing very good and very upbeat about all she is going through. Such a tough cookie we have! Thank you again for all everyone has done~we love you all and couldn't do this alone!
Written Jul 1, 2013 7:15pm by Becky KleikampWe went to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee on Thursday of last week. They decided not to do the surgery they had previously discussed as she was doing well and didn't want to jeopardize any further damage at this time as it is a risky surgery. Today we went down to Aurora Bay Health Care in Green Bay to have Britney's staples taken out. She did well and we discussed that the Radiation Oncologist up here was hoping to start Radiation/Chemo on June 8th. The Neurosurgeon said that that was too soon as her incisions need to heal 4 weeks before treatment can begin as the Radiation can "sunburn" the skin which could cause an infection in the incision which in turn would cause and infection in the shunt. So, Monday we go back to Green Bay to see if her incisions are healed enough or if we need to wait another week to start treatment. If they look good we can come back home on the 8th and have Radiation/Chemo in the afternoon! Wednesday we see the Oncologist from Green Bay as a follow-up and to finalize the paperwork for treatment. Britney also has had a few "mini seizures" so the Neurosurgeon doubled her anti-seizure meds hoping this will slow them down. Again, thank you all for your support-our community, family and friends have been an amazing support system and we are truly thankful everyday for having you behind us!!
