My Story

1 Peter 2:24 He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.

Happy 4th of July!!!!

What you see to the left (click to see better) are cookies that we made to sell in our neighborhood for another camp fundraiser.  We still have a way to go before we are done with that!  The boys are willing to try but the weather is hot and it is a challenge to keep good attitudes in the heat - for us anyway...  We had 42 baggies of cookies to sell for $1 each.  We made $31 and came home for some attitude adjustments and then went to finish up.  Later, we had only 8 bags left, we were running out of houses, and it was getting dark - so I prayed that we could just sell the 8 bags before we finished the street!  Right after I prayed, I felt led to pray a different prayer.  So, I told the Lord that we did want to sell the 8 bags but if we made more than $8 we would be grateful.  No sales for a few houses - and then - a lady bought the last 8 bags and gave the boys $30!  They were all SO VERY THANKFUL and told her that she had helped them SO much!  What a blessing that was and a fine way to finish off 2 hours in the heat!  We got her address and plan to send her a thank-you note.  : )  I'm glad that we went back out to finish - or the boys would have been minus a BIG blessing!  : )  They made a total of $75 - that is $33 more than we had cookies for.  God is good and we are grateful.

We baked another batch of cookies today and we are icing them tonight to take to our family's 4th of July celebration tomorrow!  We really do have the BEST tasting recipe for cut-out cookies!  It has been passed down through our family and we all love them!  Anyway, we will eat, swim, & visit with our Granny, Meemo, aunts, uncles, and cousins - and then we will go to another uncle and aunt's house for more swimming, camping, boating, and hopefully see some good fireworks over the lake!

Day 6 in Colorado was Father's Day - and what Darrell wanted for Father's Day is to spend time with his dad.  So, we did.  We had a nice breakfast with his family at Hotel Boulderado and then, we checked out and got the van loaded and headed straight for Wal-Mart - to buy luggage - since we had too much stuff to get home!  We found a park along the way to stop and let the kids play while I repacked the luggage.  Much planning went into the packing - since we would be maxed out on checked bags and carry-ons.  It was a little overwhelming - for the kids especially - but you gotta do what you gotta do...  We were definitely a sight to be seen walking through the airport - we got many weird looks!  One of the boys' two carry-ons was their very nice sleeping bag that they got from Hotel Boulerado (sleeping bags for the mountain climbers).  They are the color of the night sky with millions of little stars - built in pillows - roll up into themselves and have a handle to carry them with.  They are very fluffy - very warm - and very comfortable!!!  BUT they kept coming unrolled as we walked through the airport and we kept having to stop and roll them back up...  It was pretty comical.  : )

The atmosphere in the airport was a little different on this day - the Homeland Security was up to level orange and you could feel it in the air.  I made a mistake and had all of us take a water bottle - remembering that we all had one at DFW - but forgot that we bought them after going through security.  So, we threw away six brand new, unopened water bottles...  (the alternative was to open each one and pour out the water - which would have held up the line)  Then, as we put our stuff on the conveyor, I told Bradley to go ahead and walk through so we wouldn't hold up the line.  Well - the officer scolded him and told him not to go until he said so.  I apologized to Bradley...  I felt bad that he got scolded.  Darrell came up behind us and got onto the boys for just standing there - by this time, they were all huddled together with me - waiting to be told to come through.  I let him know that we had been told to wait.  Every time the boys made a move, the officer was looking at me - it was a little unnerving!  Finally, he said, "Okay ma'am...is ALL of your stuff through?"  I looked and said, "Almost" and pushed Darrell's stuff through.  After every single bin had gone through the x-ray, he said, "Okay ma'am, you come through first and then we will bring the kids through".  I went first and he did not lose eye contact with me for a second.  What we did not know was that Brandon - who had gone through ahead of us - had packed a water globe into one of his carry-on bag.  Oops!  As soon as we came through, he came to tell me - his bags were still being searched - and his options were to check the bag - for an extra fee - or leave the cute little water globe at the Denver airport.  Needless to say, we checked the bag.  Darrell and the boys had to sit on a bench in the security area and wait for Brandon and I to return.

When we got to our gate - the boys wanted to play on the moving floor - and Darrell went to watch them since I didn't feel comfortable with them going alone.  After the plane came in, Brandon noticed a swarm of officers surrounding a man who was sitting on the floor.  I had Darrell bring the boys back - and we kept them sitting with us after that.  I don't know whatever happened to the guy - a paramedic was talking with him and people kept running back and forth getting files, etc...  When he decided to stand up, the officers were more on guard.

We finally got to board the plane and had a smooth trip home.  The Park 'N Fly driver was playing KLTY in the van!  We were all starving, so we stopped at IHOP to fill our tummies - and then came home - ending one very awesome vacation - and Brenton's wish fulfilled & more!

Thank you to Make-A-Wish, Jewelers For Children, Hotel Boulderado, Red Rocks Amphiteatre, Buffalo Bill Museum, Eisenhower Tunnel and Colorado Department Of Transportation, Estes Park Ride-A-Kart & Cascade Creek Mini-Golf, and last but not least, the sweet lady at Moosely T's!  So many people participated in making Brenton's wish come true - and we are grateful to each and every person and organization!

A couple more new pics are on pages 4 & 5.
