Well it has definitely been a long time since I have posted an entry, so I thought I would write and let everyone know about all the good things that are happening with the Brendon Scott Coates Foundation. In October, my dad held a benefit concert in Tallahassee at TCC featuring the Capital City and TCC Bands. All proceeds (over $750) went to the foundation.  As I wrote in a previous post, before Christmas we were able to deliver toys to the oncology floor at Cooks Children's Hospital.  For a while after that event things slowed down a bit but recently we were able to give spending money from the foundation to a Cooks kiddo who had been battling a rare cancer for several years now. His family was able to go on a Disney trip and their little trooper, a big friend of Brendon (they went through chemo together) had spending money to get all the cool Disney toys that are all over Mainstreet. They had a wonderful time and it was great to be able to have a part in their priceless family memories.

In addition, this past weekend my sister, brother-in-law and niece, participated in a St. Judes walk/run in NC.  They had a team that walked with them...Team Brendon...all sporting their orange shirts from what I understand. There have been several efforts made on behalf of the foundation or to support similar charities around their local area of NC in Brendon's memory.  She will be posting more about that soon.

A special thanks to all the people who continue to go out of their way to participate in different local events in honor and memory of Brendon. It is such an honor to have such a wonderful son and for his memory to be carried on not just by our family. Thank you doesn't even begin to express what it means that so many people have chosen to remember Brendon through these events.  I truly believe the amazing things that the foundation has already done to bring smiles to kids battling horrible diseases (cancer being the most prevalent) is the best way to keep his memory alive and to help others who are bravely enduring the fight.
