My Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. It has been created to keep our friends and family updated about Brayden.

Brayden was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma on June 1, 2008; just days before his 3rd birthday.

Be sure to read the latest in the journal, view the photo gallery, and drop us a line in the guestbook.

I know it's been a while since I have updated, we have just had so much going on.

Last weekend we had the Relay for Life in Grove City.  It was a trying day, as storms were forcasted for that evening and their arrival time kept changing.  We weren't sure what to take, how long we would be out there and to top it off, it was extrememly HOT!!!  Most of Bryan's family came down, along with Marcie and her kids, to see Brayden walk in the survivor lap and enjoy the festivities.  The Barr family also came down and visited with us.  It was so nice for our family and friends to get to meet them, because I know alot of them keep up on Matthew's progress.  Luckily, the rain held out until about 3 a.m.  That's when we got the call to get out of there!  I guess lots of tents were broken and it was almost completely empty from then until morning.  We went back around 9 and stayed unti the end.  I think the highlight of the evening was watching our friend, Greg, dress up for the Miss Relay pageant!  It was hilarious, Greg!!!  You did a great job!!!  I want to thank Marcie for watching the kids during that day.  Audrey had Safety Town graduation in the morning, I had some errands to run in the afternoon and we had the survivor dinner before the Relay.  She even took them to McDonald's for dinner...she was definitely a trooper throughout that crazy day!!!  THANK YOU-BEST FRIEND!!!  I also want to thank Amy and Andrew, our team's captains, for the last two years.  Although, it is our church's Relay team, they have put all the focus on Brayden and this year, other kids we have met in the hospital.  There are surely other people at church who have been struck by cancer, but it is definitely different when it is a child and thier support has meant the world to us!  THANK YOU-WE LOVE YOU GUYS!!!

Monday night Jayson came down with a fever and, boy, was he fussy!!!  It was pretty high and didn't break until 3a.m. Tuesday morning.  The next thing we noticed was spots in his mouth.  After a trip to the doctor, they determined it is a virus and last night Brayden came down with the same thing (we think).  His temp. got up to 101.2, so we called the hospital.  This is the first time since winter that he has had a fever...not sure how we lucked out there, but we have been very lucky as far as fevers go!  Anyways, we spent 3 hours in the ER last night to find out that it must be a virus too!  He was a trooper!!! He had to get an IV and they gave him some antibiotics and we headed home about 10 p.m.

Lastly, please keep my family in your prayers...my grandmother is very ill and has only been given days to live.  She has been in alot of pain, from a bad back and arthritis, for many years and has just had enough and cannot take it anymore.  It will be the biggest loss I have ever had and I hate to see her go, but also am praying for her to be in peace.  She so deserves it!  My mom, grandpa and rest of my family have had a terrible couple of weeks watching her suffer so, please keep us in your prayers!
