    Dear Friends,

Your kind wishes and gestures and support helped Bill to leave this life peacefully and with knowledge that he was greatly loved.   And they continue to help me keep my bearings in these days of loss.  Whenever I get sad I think about all the love and generosity that surround me and an enormous feeling of gratitude helps to stem the tears.  I deeply appreciate all your cards, letters, visits, and calls.

I thought you might enjoy listening to the memorial service for Bill at North Community Church in Marshfield on June 16.  The music was beautiful and uplifting.   Rev. Pam McGrath managed to capture Bill’s huge and complex spirit in her remarks about him.  It’s all posted on the web at:  www.northcommunitychurch.org/bicknell

     Thank you,

     Jane

    from Jane:

I am deeply grateful to everyone who has sent condolences and kind wishes in recent days.  It makes me very proud to hear how many people's lives Bill touched.  I knew he was spectacular, and I'm happy to see how many other people knew it too!

There will be a memorial service for Bill on Saturday, June 16 at 11 a.m. in Marshfield.  Details below.  After the service everyone is invited to drive over to our house (very close) to visit.  It's not a formal reception; some people are bringing finger food and simple dishes to share.  If you'd care to bring something, it would be welcome, but it's absolutely not expected.  Directions to the church and our house are also noted below.

A memorial service for Bill Bicknell will be held at North Community Church, 72 Old Main Street, Marshfield Hills, MA, on Saturday, June 16 at 11 am. It's a small church so you may want to arrive early.

The Lesotho Boston Health Alliance will construct a house in Bill’s honor for medical students, residents, and visitors at Motebang Hospital in Leribe, Lesotho. Tax-deductible donations to this project may be sent to Global Primary Care, P.O. Box 181084, Boston, MA 02118.

Directions to North Community Church in Marshfield Hills:  Get on Route 3 South (you can reach it from either Routes 128 or 93). Drive to Exit 12 (Marshfield). Turn right at bottom of ramp onto Route 139 (Plain Street).  Very soon turn left onto Union Street (between Mobil and Gulf stations). In about a mile, go right on Pine Street.  Pine dead ends into Route 3A.  Turn left onto 3A.  Turn right onto Highland Street, then right again onto Old Main Street.  Church is on left.

From the church to our house:  Go right our of church onto Old Main Street; it becomes Prospect Street.  At bottom of hill, turn right onto Summer Street.  Turn left onto Cornwell Hill (If you reach Forge Lane you've gone a bit too far). Keep to the left going up the hill; our house is 2nd driveway on right, sign reads "Bicknell/Hale."
