Benjamin’s Story

On Wednesday, October 19th, Ben had a motorcycle accident in south Grand Forks, ND that resulted in a severed spinal column (between T5 and T6). As well he suffered from two broken ribs, minor lacerations, two small perferations in his left lung. Wednesday evening he was transferred via air to the Hennepin County Medical Center.  He is presently being treated at Craig Rehab Hospital in Denver, CO.

He has full use of his arms and hands as well as strong respiratory function. He has no feeling or movement below mid-chest.

Thank you to everyone for your faithful prayers and thoughts.

Latest Journal Update

Today is the day we have all been waiting for...we are going home! Neither Mary nor Ben have been home since October 19 and believe me, they are ready to be home again.  Ben is at his final pt class and Mary and I are doing final packing and loading the rental vehicle.  We leave
Denver early afternoon and fly to Minneapolis. From there we will drive to Grand Forks.

Thanks again for all your prayers, thoughts and encouraging words.  You have all been a great blessing to us.  We are ending this leg of the journey and know that there will be many adjustments once we are home.  Yet, we are are convinced that God will continue to be faithful.  He is so good!

The house remodeling is coming along very well.  A huge thanks to Scott Stocker, all other family members, friends and contractors.  The elevator is installed and operational, Ben's bathroom and bedroom are ready except for some final touch-ups.  Many other things are yet to be done throughout the house, but, we will work on those things once we get home.

Well, I need to go.  We'll see many of you soon!

God bless
