Great news!! Ben's scans from this week showed real signs of healing in his lungs for the first time since last January! Yee-haw!!! Dr. Rossi said this is a good indicator that there is no active disease in Ben. She said there is still evidence of the old disease in areas of his lungs, but the scans show other areas are definitely improved! Mom, Dad and Ben are so thrilled with this news, it feels like we are walking on air!
Yesterday, Ben had his PFT's and the results showed no change in his lung function since his last set of tests in July.
This news wasn't bothersome to us because we have become so used to hearing this. So today we were expecting Dr. Rossi to tell us that his CT scans were the same as they were before too. It is such a relief to find out that Ben's lungs are showing true signs of healing! Dr. Rossi also told Ben he no longer has to take Bactrim- the antibiotic he's been on since the beginning. He was particularly pleased to hear that news.
We are so thankful to all of you for your prayers since Ben first became ill in June, 2007. We truly believe in the power of prayer. We have talked with many old friends, and met lots of new friends along this journey who have told us they are praying for Ben. Well, your prayers have helped him to get to where his is now, and for that we are extremely grateful. With so many people praying for him, we know the day will come when the doctor tells Ben his lungs are disease free!
