Becky,
Still have fond memories of the Des Moines World's and attending the Challenge few times in the early 2000s. We brought back many ideas for disc golf in Nebraska and
Would like to share a story from Worlds. Our family stayed at the host hotel. The kids, Eli age 9 and Abi age 7, slept on the fold out couch, my wife and I of course in the bedroom. One night the fire alarm was triggered. It's the middle of the night, we lay in bed thinking "great, some yahoo pulled the alarm". Then hear the hallway door open and close and look at each other. We jump out of bed and notice the kids are gone. WTF?! We quickly get more clothes on and rush out into the hallway. There's Eli and Abi, hand in hand being led back up the stairs. They were being assured it was not a real fire, false alarm. Later on when talking with the kids they just thought that's what you're supposed to do, which is go outside when there's a fire alarm. Apparently in their sleepy daze the thought about alerting Mom and Dad never occurred! ... We still have many fond memories of that story and many other good times.
Hope you have a quick and full recovery! Would enjoy showing you some courses in the neighboring state to your west.
Sincerely,
- Andrew Chisholmnebdisc, Nebraska SC

Hi Becky,

Rick Sadowsky here.  You may remember me from the Des Moines Disc Golf Club days; you were the main reason why I became involved and held the office of Treasurer for three years.  I admire your endless enthusiasm and indomitable spirit.  I with you the very best on your journey through this difficult time.

HI Becky,

I am glad to hear some news about you since your last email prior to the 2012 Charlotte Worlds. It took me a while to get back to you after the Worlds last year.. (as you of all people know, lots of work involved in running worlds 'although I only helped with one course' and much down time afterwards is always needed) I am glad I emailed you back finally around Christmas last year.. I hadn't heard back, but understand now why..you have a lot going on my friend.

I will never forget you during the 2004 Des Moines Worlds. I have to say hands down (including our worlds here in Charlotte, even though I thought we had a great worlds event) Des Moines was the best organized and run disc golf worlds I have ever been a part of. Mind you, I have only gone to about 6  worlds and volunteered in 3 of those. I always refer back to you and your volunteers of how the worlds in Des Moines was run..and how "a worlds should be run' , you never missed a beat lady.

I am  sorry to hear of another tumor found and then another surgery that you have gone through. Becky you seem to have such good spirit through all of this. Tell Mike 'Hello" from some folks in Charlotte, NC and we are so glad you have him by your side. We wish you a great; speedy recovery and hope to continue to read about your story and I know this can only inspire others with cancer as well as other illnesses that think they can't go on or have that thinking mentality of  "life as I once knew it is no more".. because you still are doing that bucket list you emailed me about and I think it's great..I would love to hear what you did since June 2012 up until Dec. 2012.

I have some pics of the 2004 Des Moines Worlds.. I helped pack the players packs the night before registration and the merchandise sales throughout the week ..I had a blast.. When I locate my pictures I will see what I can find and either post them here or send them to you via your email address.. Some really good memories for sure.. I helped Mike with merchandise sales and then the larger; older fella with the big hat like you are wearing in the picture above.. well actually we all had those big hats did't we? haha! .. I still have that hat somewhere tucked away ( unless it was crushed during storage and I had to throw it out , but  I know I  kept the band for sure) ..when I find pictures will let you know.. I will never forget "all the corn you could eat at the players party". :-)  One can only eat so much corn you know? But I am sure I ate several little ears. Brings back good memories as I type now.

I would love to see you again one day. Too bad you are so far away Becky. You always had the most pleasant personality and so easy to work with. God will not give you more than you can handle and you seem to be handling a lot in the past year or so..such a strong woman you are. BTW.. I am now officially a PDGA member. How about that?  Thanks to my special friend with a wonderful heart. :-)

May God contiue to be with you through all of this,

Hugs and love my friend..
