My Story

February 1, 1949 - March 6, 2009

Barry is our hero and will be missed. He touched a lot of lives which was evident at the benefit and the memorial. We have been overwhelmed by the support of family, friends, and community members. Brian, Brandi, and I cannot thank you enough for all of your kindness and support. We will do our best to "Pay it Forward!"

The benefit was wonderful. Barry was surely there and smiling that great smile of his as he listened in on the stories told, laughed at the duck calling contest, and kicked up his heels at the dance. The memorial service was beautiful. Pastor Bill and Pastor Holt gave us peace in their words; and the music stirred our souls! I think he would have been pleased to see the outpouring of love and to hear all the stories. We were so honored to have friends of his from several states come to pay their respects. You cannot know what that means to us. Barry made many "lifelong" friends.

I cannot say "Thank you" enough to the Halverson staff for organizing and running the benefit. You guys did an awesome job. I am fortunate to work in such a great school! It was heartwarming also to see so many people who didn't even know Barry but were there to support Brian, Brandi, Gayle, Mark and all of us as a family. There are truly angels among us here on Earth.

Tomorrow Never Comes

by Norma Cornett Marek

If I knew it was the last time that I would see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time that I would see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for just one more.

If I knew it was the last time I would hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would tape each word and action and play them back throughout my days.

If I knew it would be the last time, I would spare an extra minute or two, to stop and say, "I love you," instead of assuming you know I do.

So just in case tomorrow never comes, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you, and I hope we will never forget. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, and today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day that you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss, and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear, that you love them very much, and you'll always hold them dear.

Take time to say, "I'm sorry," "Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay." And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.

We hope our story has touched you and maybe you look at how you are living your life a little differently. Life is short, make the most of it!

I will keep you all in my prayers.

Bev
