Barry’s Story

Site created on April 21, 2019

Dear all,

Thank you for visiting my site. For those here for the first time, here is a brief overall summary of my health. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in July, 2018. I had surgery and beat that cancer.

In February of 2019, I learned that I had liver cancer and I began to feel the effects of the disease. Unlike the colon cancer, procedures on the liver cancer showed that the disease had spread too far to be treatable. The surgeons conducted a followup procedure to put in a stint that will make me more comfortable in dealing with the symptoms and we will be figuring out treatments (chemotherapy, etc.) that will maximize quantity of life without sacrificing quality of life. I will post about these options but I will be very brief in my updates.

My family and community have been wonderful and generous beyond imagining. I cannot imagine more generous, loving, or kind people in my life. I treasure my whole family and all of my friends, but of course it is my wife, Tracey Fink Gilmore, and my three daughters: Katy (17), Zoe (15) and Phoebe (4) to whom I am most indebted. I intend for the rest of my life to be about living with joy, purpose, and love together.

Thanks for your interest and support. With much love to all in my life--

Barry Gilmore

In place of a guest registry book to sign, we will have a box with notes cards and pens/markers that people can use to leave their thoughts for Barry's family. Feel free to write down stories, fond memories, words of wisdom, and prayers, or draw pictures, bring photos - whatever fits your self expression. Also, please clearly write your name and phone number and/or email on your card so that our family can know you were there and get to send out notes of thanks and gratitude for your love and support.

See you all at 2pm (or a little earlier if you want a seat in the theater).

Lots of love, Tracey
