Welcome to our CaringBridge site. With friends and family scattered around the world, from Iraq to North Dakota, we thought this would be the perfect venue to share what is going on with Barak during his surgery and recovery.

Thanks for taking the time.

We are home! Dr Reisner came by Barak's room yesterday morning to have him stand and to check his ICP numbers. While standing, Barak's numbers still dip into the negative which isn't good but other than taking the shunt completely out, Dr Reisner has exhausted what he can do for Barak at this time. He has prescribed a month of Topamax and we are going to monitor his progress over the next few days.

After getting cut loose from the hospital, we made our way over to Buckhead and the ESPN Zone. We stumbled across the "Zone" after Barak's first surgery and since then he is always wanting to go back. Once we stepped in the door we met Deion, the General Manager. We shared about Barak just having been released from the hospital and that the first place he wanted to come was to the Zone. Deion went out of his way to treat Barak as if he were a star. First he sat us in the primo reclining seats in the theatre room. There is a large ticker that runs across the top of the room that provides the latest news in sports. Within minutes of our sitting down, flashing across the ticker was, "Welcome home Barak!!" Soon after Deion came by and asked Barak if he knew who Danica Patrick was. Barak responded, "of course." Deion then informed us that Danica would be at the Zone on the 12th of November and that he was going to have her autograph a poster for him and that he would mail it to Barak. Once our meal arrived Deion didn't stop. He had the "Executive Chef" create the largest banana split I've ever seen for Barak. His eyes widened as it was sat before him and was extremely gracious to the Chef as she made her way out of the kitchen to meet him. After the 3 of us finished off what was left of our lunch and the banana split, I felt like taking a nap. This was heaven on earth for sports nuts like me and Barak. Before our server had taken our plates away, Deion had reached into his bag of goodies and brought Barak a game card to use in the arcade upstairs. It was a great end to a long week!

We arrived home around 6pm to life as usual. Nate running full blast into his mommy's arms, Abi grinning from ear to ear because her daddy's home, and Bethany walking out the door to meet friends at the movies. As much as things change, some things always stay the same.
