ZOEE UPDATE:  Zoee passed her swallow study with flying colors…as we knew she would!  The answer to Zoee’s problems with eating appear to be due treatments and the resulting psychological effects that everything has taken on her.  Zoee had JUST begun eating textured foods and trying to talk when she was diagnosed…within two weeks of beginning to try “big girl” foods and saying “Ma” and “Da”,  Zoee’s cancer was discovered, she was hospitalized, operated on, survived ICU….you all know the story.  Zoee never spoke again until 2 months ago when she began babbling in her crib alone…but she wouldn’t even attempt it in front of anyone…including us! We believe that Zoee has associated all of these events as having to do with one another… and has developed an aversion to foods and a hesitancy to speak.  We have been working DILIGENTLY with her on talking … and have had some MAJOR breakthroughs in the past month with her on that!  Zoee is no longer afraid to babble in front of us … she is somewhat shy, however, around anyone other than immediate family.  YAY ZOEE!!!  She says “Mama”, “Dada”, “Bubba”, “Mmmmmooo”  (this means movie), “Baba” (bottle), “NiNi” (Nite nite).  We will be having In Home Play Therapy with Zoee to help her work out the issues she is having as a result of what we had to do to save her life.  This was to be expected and we are confident that she will conquer this as she has so many things before!  Zoee has remained at the top of her growth chart throughout the duration of all of this!  She will eat baby food with cereal, yogurt with cereal, and crackers!  We have kept her on a supplement to ensure she receives what her body needs until she begins eating table foods.  Zoee continues to be such a SUNSHINEY child…always offering us a smile…and full of giggles…she is our hero.  Thank you so much for all of your prayers!!!   They have truly carried her through this!
