The End

After suffering a massive stroke - she did not do anything in half measures - we took Aya off the ventilator last night (1/25/14). She died about an hour later, just before midnight.

Takeharu Nakadai
By Takeharu NAKADAI, (Fudoan Hekishusai)
Dear Itagaki family. My name is NAKADAI, Takeharu from Japan. Since 2010, I often communicated with Mrs. Itagaki by internet though I have never met her. I was never thought she had passed away because I just received e-mail from her in the middle of Jan.. So, even I didn't visit her FB page... I have no idea how should I say...
Since I met her, I felt she is the reincarnation of my mother. She always give correct and helpful advice to me. Once she sent Buddha statue to me for celebrate my promotion of martial arts rank. Now it is in the family Buddhist altar. I will enshrine it by the generation after the generation of my family.
Best Regards,

My deepest condolences to your entire family. I found out about Aya's passing through the Hanover grapevine, though I haven't lived in the Upper Valley since 1976. I grew up just down the street from you all on Dresden Road, and have many fond memories of that time. My best wishes to all of you -- Kazuhiko, Haruhiko, Junji, and Sachi.

Have just received the devastating news of Aya's passing. She was my teacher, mentor, and friend. A Sensei of the highest order. True, disciplined, a task master and teaser. Aya's teachings opened so many doors for me. More intrinsic than material, her vision helped me to see clearly all that was not readily apparent. Her lessons traced a path for me to be a better artist, teacher, and parent.
Our daughters share the same birthday, and her exquisite paintings grace my home. My heart is heavy for the loss and for the family's loss.
My love and heartfelt condolences to you dear K and your beautiful family.
Until we meet again Aya on the higher plane

Sheryl Chiu-Sosnov

Condolences from the Chiu and Sosnov families. She and your father were at our wedding and always and forever be in our hearts and minds. Our children David and Claire were fortunate enough to have a chance to meet her last June 2013 before we moved back to London and they LOVED meeting her and seeing her painting and doing some themselves at her house. I have two of her paintings hanging in our flat and we shall remember her every day of our lives. We miss her and love her dearly!
