Avalanna Routh's Journal
Written Aug 24, 2012 1:34pmAvalanna has had a very difficult week.. We are inpatient as Avalanna was in alot of pain due to tumor progression. After a week of daily anesthesia & radiation & alot of pain meds, Avalanna is now comfortable & anxious to go home.
Avalanna is the bravest, brightest little girl & it has been heartbreaking to see her in such pain;) Please pray that Radiation will eliminate this tumor & Avalannas pain completely.
I will Never Ever Give up- We need a Miracle.
Loving my girl, forever & ever & always,
Written Aug 11, 2012 7:47pmI always seems to begin these updates with an apology for not writing / updating sooner.;) We have been so busy with Avalanna & treatments & life that I forget... so I am sorry.
Let me begin by thanking you all for your continued prayers for Avalanna. I knew that these prayers are helping keep our sweet girl comfortable & happy.
Avalanna has had a fun few months & we continue to live life to its fullest daily. Last month we started a new medicine - Aurora A Kinaese inhibitor. Avalanna is tolerating it well but we still don't know if this medicine will stop the disease progression. We can only hope & pray that this experimental inhibitor will be the miracle we have been looking for.
I beg you to keep praying - specifically to St. Charbel. He is a Lebanese Saint to whom many Miracle in kids have been attributed. We need a Miracle for our Avalanna.
With deepest gratitude & Continued Hope,
Written Apr 21, 2012 5:03pmAfter much discussion, Avalanna started radiation on her eye tumor this week. We knew that this was a risky decision to make but we needed to do this. Avalanna was unable to open her right eye anymore so we were left with little choice but to do radiation - despite Avalanna having had a lot of radiation to the same region previously.
I am so happy to tell you that it looks like the radiation is working...she can now open her eye again, after just 4 days of treatment. Avalanna is SO happy / she had been really upset about her closed eye & loosing her confidence.. So glad to see the "swagger" return.:)
Tomorrow we celebrate Avalannas 6 & one half birthday with lots of her little friends... Honestly just a few months ago, I didn't even think we would make it this far.. Please Thank God with me for every single day we have our angel Avalanna with us....
Next weekend is our "Cure ATRT" 24 hr Spinathon & Spa evening. This is going to be a huge fundraiser- I can't tell you all how much we appreciate all your fundraising & genuine love we feel from you. The passion with which our dear friends fundraise to fight ATRT is incredible. Special thanks to Kristen for spearheading the Spinathon efforts & to the amazing A team- you kids Rock ;) thank you thank you.
Keep praying for a Miracle.
Love Aileen xoxo
