Greetings from the Pierce’s!
We hope that you are truly enjoying your summer with family and friends! We most definitely are having fun this summer! What a difference a year makes! Last year at this time Austan was healing from his colon surgery, but now…
AUSTAN TURNED SIXTEEN JULY 6th!!! He will be able to get his driver’s license by the end of this month…He has to have his driving permit at least 6 months before he can officially get his license so he has to wait a few more days since he didn’t get his permit until the end of January! Austan just finished his driver’s ed course. He is excited!! Austan doesn’t need any modifications to drive because he still has his right leg…He just can’t drive a stick shift!!
Austan’s Hoopfest basketball team won their wheelchair division! He really enjoyed playing for the first time in 5 years! It was so fun to watch his team play together! Their strength to push that basketball to the hoop in a sitting position is amazing! Try it sometime…It is not easy! Thank you to everyone who came to cheer Austan and Kendra on during their games!
Kendra just finished her softball and basketball schedules for the summer last week! We have loved watching her play both sports. Austan kindly kept score for her softball team all season. Kendra’s hip began giving her troubles a couple of weeks ago, so she has been taking it easy except for games. Her doctor thinks it could be early hip flexor issues, so she is resting for a few weeks.
We just returned from my Rosman family reunion down in Wilbur, WA. That was fun to see everyone! We are looking forward to traveling to Dallas, Texas for a few days to visit my brother, and then Austan will be going by himself to Kalispell, MT to visit my sister’s family for a week.
Austan is planning on updating this site himself soon with info and pictures. However, we wanted to let you know that his three month tests and scans appointment last week revealed a small cluster of spots on his lung that appear to the doctors to look like pneumonia. This is surprising as Austan is very healthy right now showing no symptoms of pneumonia or any other illness. He will have another CT scan in a month to check these spots. Hopefully, they will have diminished or completely vanished by next month.
Enjoy your summer!
