Ashley’s Story

Site created on September 13, 2009

On September 11, 2009, Ashley was diagnosed with Leukemia.  We are in good spirits that she will fight this and this is all God's will for her life.  God has chosen this path for her and Ashley is the strongest in this journey.  She feels Him beside her and trusts He is using her for His glory.

Updated December 10, 2010...From Ashley...I have relapsed, but God is good and He will carry me through this ordeal yet again.

***Update..April 10, 2012...Ashley has relapsed from her transplant.  We pray God continues to give her strength.

**Update June 22, 2013   God called Ashley home....

Ashley started running a fever and had a swollen lymph node in her neck.  After visiting the hospital 3 times over a week, the 4th doctor had more blood work run and we got the call from him to get to Walter Reed immediately. He enabled her body to be healthier going into treatment.  We thank him for taking the time to look at her first labs and recognize something was wrong.   We were given the hard news about her Leukemia and began this journey. Ashley has been so strong during her treatment and continues to trust the Lord bringing her through this.   She knows this is a small bump in the road she calls life.   She will forever be a changed women because of it and she says she will give back in some capacity.   Troy and I are so proud of her and the strength she exhibits everyday by waking up and continuing to press on.

Journal entry by Ashley Riemer and family

My Dearest Daughter,
     What I continue to do......
I continue to miss you immensely.
I continue to love you each day even though you are not physically here.
I continue to mourn the loss of you even after 4 years, 7 months and 2 days.
I continue to lose out on what could have been.
I continue to yearn for you to get married and have children.
I continue to miss you telling me how your day was.
I continue to miss saying goodnight to you.
I continue to miss your fashionista style.
I continue to miss watching Jeopardy with me, you and Troy.  (Wondering how Troy knew so much useless trivia).  TJ sometimes takes over and watches with me and Troy.
I continue to miss going shopping and the movies with you.
I continue miss watching you eating your favorite meal in order  (chicken, mashed potatoes and corn which by the way, we had tonight).
I continue to miss your smile and laugh even in the roughest of times and most the most joyous.
I continue to miss your quirkiness that made you so unique.
I continue to miss the loving and caring person you were.  (Worrying about others even when you were in so much pain physically and emotionally)
I continue to miss you going to our family’s houses and you not being there.

But ......
I find comfort in....
I find comfort in others remembering you and who you were.
I find comfort in speaking your name and about you.
I find comfort in the memories that have returned and give me focus to move forward each day....just what you wanted.
I find comfort in the love we had for each other as mother and daughter and friends.
I find comfort in the study you were on and knowing that your legacy will live on and will help others.
I find comfort in knowing God is perfect and doesn’t make mistakes.
I find comfort in knowing that God may have you in heaven but He enables all who knew you to remember you for who you were in their lives in your own special way.
I find the most comfort in knowing I was given the most precious title....Mom or as you would call me “Ma”.

“Until I see you again....”

Always loving you,
Ma
