It’s a New Year & I’m Ready for Change!
Funny how time flies when you’re having fun!
Hi Family,
I hope this journal finds you in good spirits and hope you haven’t missed me too much. The holidays came and went and I realized that I haven’t kept my word to you, my support system.
So what’s up w/ me…
• I passed my 2nd round of CT Scans (insert praise and excitement)
• I completed and passed my first semester of Graduate School
• I’ve settled into my gig in the Multicultural Center and have planned some successful events. The most memorable thus far was our Block Party. The President and his dog even showed up.
• I’m serving as a co-advisor to the BSU and working on developing our Women’s Center
• During the holiday break, my mom and I were able to reach out to some of the Survivors I had mentioned before and created personalized Survivor Bags. I was able to share with them some goodies and motivating words that I found helpful along my journey. It actually reminded me of how far I’ve come and how hard I still have to work to save my life!
I’ve learned so many things, but what sticks out now is how important it is to Preserve Your Mental! So much of this is mind over matter. You may have obstacles, but your journey is your testimony. God will use you to motivate and encourage other’s. I admittedly am still having a lot of immune sytem issues that I’ve faced way before my cancer diagnosis, but I am still choosing to fight. Because of the stress and strain of work and school I have to be more grounded and consistent, but I know that I will be delivered. If anyone knows of any holistic solutions please let me know.
The most exciting news that I want to share was that I had the opportunity to join millions in D.C. for the Inauguration of Barack Obama. This was my first post-treatment trip out of state and I thought that would be the best time to celebrate. The ideals of HOPE and CHANGE speak volumes for me personally and I am so proud of where we are headed. Now if we can just get this universal healthcare going and bring the troops home it’ll be all good.
So, I’m really excited about life’s possibilities and how God is moving and putting amazing people in my path. I thank you all for the continued prayers. Please feel free to drop me a line on the guestbook and continue to pray for consistency and answers to my immune system struggles!
