Dear Steffens Family and Joan,
It is with shock and tears from what we have just learned about our dear friend, Dick. What a great loss his departure has made to us all here on earth, but what a grand, glorious entrance he must have made into Heaven in the arms of our Dear Lord Jesus Christ. I'm positive Dick had a few jokes to share with God himself!
Dick....we will remember you with GREAT fondness all the days of our life. You were a true friend inside and out ,and there's nothing you wouldn't do for anyone.
I'll always be ever so thankful to you for your help in moving us from Cicero, Illinois to Gilbert, Arizona back in 1993. Just do me a favor....if they have motorized vehicles in Heaven, please don't run out of gas as you did on the turnpike!  No need to worry, though....I KNOW you're fluttering around on angel's wings.
May God hold you close in his tender arms, Dick. Until we meet again, we will miss you tremendously.
Love,
Lin Gilbert-Piest & Terry,Along with Heather, Frank, Kristy, Cole and Jeff

Dear Family,

I lived next to Dick and his mother when we first moved to Larchmont, New York.  Dick was then a senior in high school.  Jim and I kept up with Dick through the years.  This is the first year that we did not receive a Christmas card from him.  Susan Amlicke called to tell us he had passed away.  We have so many fond memories of Dick.  He had the greatest smile and was just fun to be around.  Our very deepest sympathy to the entire family.

My condolences to the entire Steffen's family.  I had the pleasure of knowing your father through my father Richard Pfister who worked with him in the paper industry and who were great friends.  They had a great friendship, enjoyed golfing and sharing time together.  Dick would always attend our annual Octoberfest party and bring special treats from a bakery close to his home.  He was always a pleasure to be around and will be be missed every year going forward.  To Dick we will raise a toast to him each year at our annual Octoberfest party.  We are all Thankful to have known him and I am glad he was a friend of my dad.  Until we meet again.

My sympathies to all. I will miss your father as we always had wonderfull lunches together and great conversation. I had been thinking of your father often and it was ironicI I finally sent him an email Wednesday of this week and woke up Thursday to see the notice in the Herald. I don't think he missed an anniversary or birthday over the last 25 or so years. Always full of life and kind wishes. I am thankfull to God that his suffering her on earth is over.

Hello to all those visiting my dad's site. I had the privilege of spending the last week of my dad's life here on earth with him. It was an amazing experience and has enriched my life in so many ways. As dad began to leave this world and pass onto the next, a beautiful man appeared. He was vulnerable, polite, so accepting of love and the kindness bestowed on him, peaceful, surrendering...no walls, no pretenses, no angst. I have no doubt he is in a better place. He is walking again, living without pain and fear, surrounded by love and grace. As sad as I am to have him gone, I am grateful to have loved him and be loved by him. To all of you who have been touched by his life, please remember the good times and the goodness he brought to your life. And do yourself a favor and live each day to the fullest, telling all of those you love how much they mean to you. Blessings and peace,I love you daddy...

I just sent Happy Birthday wishes to you dear friend and saw a note from your son about your passing on.  So glad you accepted Christ as your personal Savior. Have a wonderful birthday celebration in heaven.   To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!  I will see you again.  God Bless you and your family!  RIP

Hi Dick

We all have been thinking about you and hoping you are well.  Another election has come and gone and the Board had only one change this time.  Overall the association is doing well.  We are doing some upgrades to the 1205 building and looking forward to holiday season.  We all miss you and are thinking of you always.   With kindness regards and love, Dawn and the Windsor Woods family

Hi Cuz - your boy writes that it is increasingly difficult to control the discomfort and pain, you've stopped chemo and you're not responding to emails all that often. From the family photos Maurine and I have seen, you are surrounded by as much love as there is in the world and we want you to know there's more coming from Canada and we are so sad we never got down to Tampa to say hi.
Our best wishes for your comfort and for you and your family's peace of mind, Lincoln & Maurine Steffens

Hi Richard,My name is Justine and I am friends with your daughter Laurie.  Laurie is a friend at St Joseph school who ALWAYS has a smile.  No matter what is going on she spreads joy to those around her.  She is also a big volunteer at school - sharing her time, talents and love to make St Joseph School a better place for our kids.  I'm sure this is no news to you, but you raised one amazing daughter.  It's a pleasure to know her.  Thanks for all you did to mold her into the person she is today.
I will continue to pray for your health and wellness, especially that you will be rid of pain and discomfort.
God bless you Richard.
