My Story

While home from work on March 17, 2008 due to a fever and cold symptoms, I was changing Anthony's shirt and noticed a large mass under his ribs on the left side. I took him to his pediatrician and he referred me directly to the hospital for x-rays. The results of the x-rays moved us to an ultrasound and once these results were reviewed; were admitted to Salem Hospital...

We met with Dr. Silen yesterday for a follow up from the biopsy. They finally shared with us that there was no infection; all that showed were white cells. Shows how fast he has recovered from chemo. It is odd to think there is no infection by looking at his stomach; it is pretty gnarly. (We will take an infectionless gnarly stomach any day!) They won't be doing anything with the wound or the other drainage sites; they will heal on their own. He has tissue extending outside the wound entrance but they say that should take care of itself.

Alexa was hit by the flu early this week, gave it to Anthony for several days and I now just got over my stint. Anthony has a full body rash from the fevers but they said it should go away. We tried taking him back to his school Thursday but only made it half a day as his rash spread and fever came back. Although he was reluctant to send Daddy off, I think he enjoyed seeing his friends and teachers again; it had been a month since he was there last.

Thanks again for your love and support during this latest adventure and throughout our entire journey since diagnosis. March 17th seems so long ago; yet just like yesterday. All our love and appreciation - Gina
