Anna has had quite the weekend. Not all good, not all bad...more good though! :) On Saturday, her mom got a phone call saying that her CO2 had gone up to 112, so the docs switched her vent mode back to pressure control. An hour later, her CO2 was back down to 57 (whew!). Her doctor also wanted to put her on a 3-5 day course of IV steroids, but changed his mind after he saw what the vent change did for her. Her doctor actually had to turn down some of the settings today because she was taking such big breaths. After they changed the vent back, she was much better. She was playing and laughing all day yesterday. She also decided that she didn't need to take a nap all day and was very grumpy by 9:30 or so (when she finally went to bed). She has had a few mishaps with her feedings over the past few days and it's only when she's sleeping, so we're looking into maybe needing to put her feedings in a pump while she's sleeping. The rest of the day, she's ok doing bolus feeds and is quite happy with her food. Her nurse practitioner (Aries) is going to look at her G-Tube tomorrow, since it might be infected. It's really red and kind of puffy, so she may end up going on a course of antibiotics. Hopefully, that takes care of her belly. Aries is also going to look into the possibility of her teething, because she's putting EVERYTHING into her mouth and is not happy unless something is there. She's figured out how to chew/suck on her thumb and will finally take a big girl pacifier again! She also figured out how to roll over Saturday night, which is a huge step for her. She's been working on it for a few weeks now and made the big jump last night! What a great present for her mommy and daddy! Overall, she's doing so much better than earlier this week and hopefully it keeps going this way.
