I am Angie and I was born with Renal Reflux which led to the loss of both my kidneys by the time I was 16 years old through Pylonephritis. Got a transplant in 1990 which lasted til 2001.

Was waiting this time around for a kidney since 2001 & finally got a 'Sleepy' transplant Sept 30th 2007!

Just a new update! Been real busy as my energy is slowly picking up. Trying to get more exercise since my protein levels had been so low for so long that I lost my muscle mass. I get exhausted easily but my hemoglobin is coming up with the help of Epo needles.

Been working on designs that the owner of www.kidneyfun.com has gotten me into. She set up a shirt site and asked if I wanted to do the designs for some of them. Well I have nothing else going on right now and was feeling like I don't have a use right now so of course I jumped on that! :)

I have been pretty impressed with how they turned out so I bought one to wear at the World Kidney Day event I went to on March 13th 2008!

My creatinine is slowly coming down! Now my GFR is at 1.8 so that is better! :) I only know my creatinine in Canadian numbers which is 156 umol/L (normal is 55 - 115 umol/L).

I will be going back to work by July 2nd as that is the longest my work will give me but that means I won't be able to attend the World Transplant Games in PA on July 11th as planned. As I really don't think work will say 'oh you just came back and were off for 9 months? Yeah take a week off!' lol

But since my work has made it painfully clear that they don't really have placement for me or anyone that is light duty and that I am just in the way with how slow I am with my anemia, I am looking into other work. So who knows ..

I am hoping to at least be able to attend the Canadian Transplant Games in my city the first week of August since it is the first time my city has held such an event! It is such an honour!
