Amy’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

There are several of us maintaining the page, including Steve, so hopefully our combined forces will keep the updates rolling and the Support Planner functioning like a well oiled machine...one can hope. Of course feel free to contact any of us or just post to the board with any questions or special concerns. We will post all of our email addresses to the page for easy access to us all.

Thanks so much for the outpouring of love & support! Steve, Penny D, Andrea B, Penny T & Amanda C

Hello all. We are 3-1/2 months past Amy's stroke, not fully recovered, but into a fairly stable 'new normal'. The new news is that Marionjoy certified Amy as safe to drive, so she is back on the road. Weird thing is she was not safe to drive before Oct-11. Sorry, I love old material. So Amy has more of her freedom back. She had her follow up with the neuro, and as expected there is no conclusive 'why' or root cause. Just best guesses. Her risk of future stroke is no higher or lower than that of any woman her age. So what's next? Really not sure. We are back into the routine with the kids and looking forward to Spring Break during a very gray, cold winter. But we sometimes look back at this page and we are very grateful. Every post, every school lunch, every play date, and every yummy home cooked dinner helped us make it through a very rocky couple of weeks. So in case you did not hear it enough, thank you. Thank you to friends old and new. Thank you to all of Glen Ellyn. What an incredible community. And finally thanks to Penny Dirks, Penny Taback, and Amanda Cyzen. Theses ladies took on another family on top of their own and couldn't have done a better job helping Daniel, Michael and Kate feeling safe during a very scary time. Take care. Steve
