I had my monthly check up from the doctor yesterday in San Antonio. Actually I didn’t even see the doctor, just Marie (his PA). I did take a shower so it is not because I stink…maybe he just doesn’t like me anymore… Truthfully, he was too busy with other patients that needed his assistance. I am doing so well that he didn’t need to see me. I got all I needed from Marie. She is so sweet.

Anyway, I got another good report. First good news, they took me off steroids!!! Sweet! They will try that for a month and see if I have any reactions with GVH. If it starts to flare up, then I might have to go back on them a little more. Hopefully there will be no problems. My blood work looked good and there are no concerns there. Earlier this week, I had a bone density test (since I have been on steroids for awhile). Unfortunately, I found out I have osteopenia, meaning I have lost some bone density and need to take calcium with vitamin D (probably for the rest of my life). But I can live with taking a couple of pills that aren’t harmful.

My Thanksgiving was very enjoyable. I have so much to be thankful for this year. I am amazed at how healthy and good I feel 8 months after my transplant. Praise God! He has given me a wonderful life with amazing friends and family to continually challenge me to love Christ more. I spent Thanksgiving in Houston with Mike’s family and extended family. It was great fun getting to know and meet so many nice people. And I think I passed the test…Mike said they all liked me. J
