Alissa’s Story

Site created on February 11, 2008

Alissa was brought into the hospital on Feb. 7th, 2008 after many tests and a CT scan, they found blood clots on both of her lungs, her left hip, brain and neck. The left lung is almost not functioning and the right one has a smaller clot. How a healthy 16 year got to this, they have no idea, hence why the Mayo clinic has been brought in.

For those of you just checking into Alissa's web site, she was brought into North Memorial on Feb.7th, 2008. She was in ICU until the 11th and then was brought up to the peds floor and remained there until the 17th.

We came home on the 17th, however she wasn't feeling better, so the next day, Monday, we ended up in the ER and they put her back in the hospital. Feb.18th, the doctors transferred her to Childrens in Minneapolis. They found out that besides the clots on her lungs she now has a small clot on her brain, one clot in her right arm and one on her left hip. She also has a blood condition called factor five.  You can read the journal for the updates and please feel free to sign the guest book, she loves to read them daily!

Thank you all so very much for your support, prayers and love as we could not get through this without you.

Love, Lisa
