Dear friends,

As you know, Alicia returned to Houston this summer, where her family could better manage her care.  They've created a wonderful environment for her in Houston, and it has also allowed her the opportunity to connect with doctors at MD Anderson, one of the world's top cancer hospitals.

Over the past few weeks Alicia's symptoms have greatly intensified, and doctors have advised that this extremely rare form of cancer is not curable.  Unfortunately, continued treatment will not yield meaningful results or improve the quality of life for our sweet girl.

The Rainbolt family has decided to transition Alicia into hospice care, administered at the home of her Aunt and Uncle, where she and her parents have been living (9623 Longmont Drive, Houston, TX 77063).

The family is so grateful for the love and support that you have shown them through this experience. Your outpouring of kindness and steady stream of prayers have been a reminder of God's goodness. Thank you for taking to heart John 13: 34-35: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

I encourage you to keep communicating with Alicia -- it's a great spirit-lifter. She sleeps much of the day, but enjoys texting and receiving "snail mail" and voice messages.  Alicia's memory (and understanding of the situation) ebbs and flows as a result of the cancer, so kindly keep correspondence on the light side.

However hard this news is to learn, we have a great promise -- one that we can confidently say Alicia holds to every day: "As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last He will take His stand on the earth." Job 19:25. Please continue to pray for God to be with Alicia, and that He will keep her family strong.

With love,
Trish
