Journal entry by Joe Muckenthaler —
So the last post was by Kristine and was written so good. Well this is Joe now and I apologize in advance as it will not be as smooth and she can do. On Friday July 7th we all went home to enjoy the time we have left. I do not know where to begin. We shared about two weeks at the house and back and forth to doctor appointments in between many many visits from family and friends. This past Friday the four of us went to KC for a clinic visit and Alex requested to be admitted. Alex has protected all three of us on this journey and was instrumental in doing it again. He knew things were getting more difficult at home and on Thursday he was starting to have more pain. We started at clinic and by six were settled in on our "home away from Home" here on 4 Henson. Children's Mercy Hospital and all the staff here has become our family. Alex is a VIP here and well known by most. They let Alex know in their own way that he is now calling all the shots. Whatever you want and whatever you don't want, just tell us. Friday evening I reached out to Father Francis Hund who is doing summer relief for our priest who is away on an assignment. He came over and spent some quality time with us. It was very much needed and appreciated by us all. Saturday Uncle Jay and his sons Austin and Parker blessed us with there time and then Aunt Susie and daughter Jenna did in the afternoon. Today Grandpa Larry and Megan came to start the day followed by Taylor and boyfriend Caleb. Not far behind was Grandma Muck, Uncle John, Aunt Vickie and Cody. We have had a long and busy day. Right now Alex is resting and getting a unit of platelets as Kristine is right beside his bed. I said we should update Caring Bridge so I am trying my best.
We are blessed to have this family surround us with love and support as well as this medical staff treat us as VIP's. We are forever grateful to each and everyone of you who have read these posts and commented to lift us up in prayer. Together we have accomplished a lot in the past twelve years. Please continue to pray for Alex, Kyle, Kristine and Myself. We need you now as much as always...God Bless...The Mucks.
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Alex's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
