It’s officially been 8-days since AJ’s Walk for Wishes. AJ didn’t have to walk a bit; rather enjoy the ride in a SUV with a very large sun roof. It was a great time and AJ spent time with 4 other Make A Wish kids. I enjoyed visiting with friends and meeting other great children and parents of Make A Wish kids.
Since then, AJ has been busy trying to get back to the life of a normal 9-year old. Christy and I have been creative in PT and OT. This includes Arnett Sports Plus Therapy, horseback riding, swimming in the pond, piano lessons, and working in the yard. With all this activity and challenges with each activity, AJ’s still struggles with balance issues and coordination of his right side.
Even though it was 90 degrees a few times this past week, AJ carries a jacket because he is cold. Today we went to church and the mall. I am amazed how God keeps life in perspective. This time last year, we couldn’t have the windows of the house open, drive with the windows down, scrutinize every bruise/scratch, clean up after spells of nausea, and sweeping up hair off the furniture/floor.
At times I wonder how we made it this far. It was only by the grace of God. I hope other children and all cancer victims keep focused on the miracles that God give each and all of us.
