Summer is off to a good start. I love these relaxed days! Last week was VBS, this week is pure laziness, and next week they have sports camp. (Golf, tennis, and swimming) I expect them to be exhausted and ready for bed very early.
For me next week is a trip to Washington DC. I am going with Curesearch again to speak with members of congress about childhood cancer. I consider it an honor to represent all of our beautiful children, and I go in hope that someday they will all have a gentler cure. Wish Brad luck with the kids next week. Honey, I know you will do great!
I got a call from a friend who joined the bone marrow registry when Brad & I hosted a drive about a year ago. She was contacted because she might just be the match to save a 4 year old boys life. She won’t know for sure until more testing is done. While I hate that the boy is sick enough to need it, I am so proud that we decided to do the drive and so proud of all our friends who joined the registry! What an amazing thing to think you could be the one unique person that could save someone’s life.
You know how you see all those packages on the grocery store with pink ribbons for breast cancer. Well, there is FINALLY one with a gold ribbon for childhood cancer. Look for Flavor-Ice packages with gold ribbons this summer and buy them up. Hopefully if they sell good other companies and products will follow.
The kids are doing great. Right now they are working on some craft project/invention. Should be interesting. They are impatiently waiting on our vacation to Legoland in California. However, that isn’t until August, so they have a while to wait. They are doing all kinds of little chores around the house to earn their spending money for the trip. They do little things like “go get mommy the clothes out of the dryer so I can fold them” and bigger things like pulling weeds or cleaning their bathroom. It is working out pretty good for me. J
I got 13 inches cut off my hair this week, and I am donating it to “wigs for kids.” Later that day Abby said she didn’t recognize me until she looked at my clothes.
Have a great summer.
