Well October is gone and November is upon us, and of course in Minnesota there is already snow in the forecast. All in all I had a pretty good month. I had been having trouble steering clear of UTIs so I scheduled an appointment with my urologist. He wanted to do a CAT scan of my kidneys to check for kidney stones. So I did that and a few days later I found out it came back negative. So what's the problem? He did not really know. He put me on in other preventative antibiotic and it seems to help already. So what, two more pills? No big deal. But when they did that CAT scan, they found a little something in my left lung. I was told it was a lesion, whatever that is. Of course I was not too concerned about it because they did not send over an ambulance or helicopter to get me. But of course mom flew off the handle, telling me to call every doctor, to get a second opinion and find out what is in there. So after a couple days she got ahold of my doctor and for the time being they think it is a piece of scar tissue from doing all of the suctioning. I told mom it was no big deal and I would be okay because I can still breathe. So anyway I am doing a follow-up x-ray tomorrow just to keep them happy and to make sure it is not growing.
My plastic surgeon gave me the approval to start therapy on a standing frame, which is huge! I am very excited to start on that again. After I go through the therapy program with that again I will be able to use one in my own home.
The sore on my butt is doing well. It is continuing to the heal, at its own very slow slow rate. But at least it is not going backwards and I am able to be in my chair as much as I want. I go back to see her on December 17 for her to tell me the same thing I am sure, come back in two months!
I am also getting a new bed. Hopefully this one actually fits me, I mean it is long enough. Then there will be no more constant repositioning to keep my feet off of the footboard and my head off of the headboard. The bed I am in now I have about 3 inches to spare, which does not leave a lot of room for someone that is 6'4". And it should arrive sometime next week hopefully, and I am ready for it.
The ossification in my right arm has been bothering me a little bit. It's hard to describe, it doesn't really hurt it just is kind of a constant pain. I guess it's a pain that I've gotten used to and is just there. My mom seemed to run across a lady that does acupuncture in the cities that she is trying to get me an appointment with. We have been told she has done amazing work, so hopefully this will work for me! Another reason why this would be nice to get taken care of it is that I could start using my power assisted grip on my left hand more.
I also have a few people working on a few very very exciting things for me. But I'm not going to spoil the surprise in case they do not happen. There is more and more technology happening every day. It is very hard to keep up with and luckily for me there are other people who research it and keep me updated. I am doing the best I can to look around for it also, because I know it all will help me.
I think that just about sums up my October. Oh yeah one more thing, I kicked mom out of the house and she made it to Arizona. She made it down their couple weeks ago and is already enjoying the pool and all of her friends. I know they are all happy to have her there, and so am I! Ha ha ha just kidding but she deserves a break.
That's it for now!
