ATTENTION! This is going to be my last Caring Bridge post. As part of my recovery, I would like to resume use of my personal blog at http://meepsandmeeps.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much for all your support and diligence on this site. It has been a place of much encouragement and many blessings.

Hallo!
I'm sorry I haven't updated this in quite sometime, but there's a legitimate reason for it: nothing has happened. My little life has been nothing but a lot of sitting. We decided to stay in Northfield for the remainder of my recovery, which is good news to Mom, who unfortunately has to do a lot of laundry and sleep on the couch next to me (read: angel!). Days consist of watching movies, knitting, and spending an inordinate amount of time online. Dad (read: angel!) takes me out when cabin fever become unbearable. We went to the Botanic Garden the other day, and it might as well have been heaven. I've had gaggles of visitors, and I even went up to good ole' Grand Rapids yesterday (Colleen had a business trip there and offered to take me), and visited the small remainder of friends a beloved professors still playing in the city. So I've been keeping busy as much as possible because what else can you do when you have to sit all day?

And what of my progress? Well, I honestly don't know what to say. All the doctors in Las Vegas has predicted that I would be ready to take this turtle shell off and start weight bearing six to eight weeks after the accident. We've hit six weeks. Celebration? Not quite. The other day, Dad and I went to an appointment with a new orthopedic doctor. And after looking at some fresh x-rays he said unapologetically.....three to four months til brace gone and weight bearing go. MONTHS. You can imagine the tears, I'm sure. Soooo now we don't know who to believe, what to think, etc. We'll, of course, be seeking another opinion, but it does set us back some, and it certainly scares the hell out of me to think of pittering around here doing nothing until New Year's. I guess I could get a job, but I don't think I have the focus or endurance for that still...not to mention how would I get to work? So we'll see. Sigh.

So that's about all I have to report. It's already getting a little chilly hear in the Midwest; you can smell autumn around the corner. Hope you are well, safe, healthy, happy, and mobile. :)

Meeps,
kaitlyn
