This father’s day let us truly honor the “Men” in our lives who have taught us some of life’s most valuable lessons. Today and everyday I celebrate my father, Carter’s Grandfather, who has come before me in this life bringing gentle guidance, absolute love, and knowledge. Most importantly, I honor Carter’s father, John, who lives with his heart wide-open, carrying on for Carter and living in the moment for his daughter, Kiersten. Today I am also honoring my nephew and Godson Carter Reese Deckert Moore who was not given the chance to grow up and be a loving father. Although, Carter was robbed of the chance at “fatherhood” his wisdom and understanding of unconditional love far surpassed his years… making him our hero, guider, angel, center, beacon of light, and teacher. Just as a father would teach his children to have faith in the unknown, to stand up for their convictions, to love everything, even the dark moments for they bring us truth, and we become enlightened beings because of them… Carter taught us all these things and more. I carry the gifts he bestowed upon earth in my heart…and I speak of him often, even to strangers, for this is how I keep his spirit alive. I continue to invite you our dear family and friends to say and write how you feel and to always commemorate Carter. Love, Aunt Lauren

I have included the lyrics of the John Mayer song called, “SAY”, in the this journal entry because it is one of John’s favorite songs… and I know if Carter were here he would be singing along to the words with his father.

SAY

Take all of your wasted honor.
Every little past frustration.
Take all of your so called problems,
Better put 'em in quotations.

Say what you need to say

Walkin' like a one man army,
Fightin' with the shadows in your head.
Livin' up the same old moment
Knowin' you'd be better off instead

If you could only...Say what you need to say

Have no fear for givin' in.
Have no fear for giving over.
Say What You Need To Say
You better know that in the end
It's better to say too much, than never to say what you need to say again.

Even if your hands are shaking,
And your faith is broken.
Even as the eyes are closin',
Do it with a heart wide open.

Say what you need to say

Say what you need to,

Say what you need to say.
