Rebecca's Page
Welcome to Rebecca's page. Rebecca Guiliani was a very brave and special nine year old. In January 2002 Rebecca was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma, a rare and unoperable brain tumor located in the pontine region of the brain. After discovery, she had surgery to relieve the pressure from her brain and also completed chemotherapy and radiation treatments in March 2002. Her condition improved for a few months, but then began to take a turn in the opposite direction. She started another round of experimental chemotherapy at National Institutes of Health (NIH) but was taken off the protocol because it wasn't being effective. She died on December 20th, 2002 and now lives in heaven with a perfect body, disease free. We miss her beyond words. She touched so many lives.
She lived in Virginia Beach, VA with her family: Heidi (mom), John (Step dad), Michelle, Sarah, Heather, Aaron, and Emma. She also has another brother, Jay, who is now in the Marine Corp.
Her hobbies were listening to country music (Shania Twain, Toby Keith, Dixie Chicks and Tommy Shane Steiner) and watching Country Music Television (CMT). She also enjoyed NASCAR Racing (Jeff Gordon) and local racing at Langley Speedway in Hampton, VA where many of her friends race, including John, JT, Jan, Tracy, Steve and Scott. She attended Indian Lakes Elementary School in Virginia Beach, VA and was an outstanding third grader, recognized as Citizen of the Month for April 2002.
We decided to keep her website running to share her story and maybe be of some kind of help to anyone else who may be going through something similar.

Tuesday, June 22, 2004 1:02 PM CDT Hello again from all of us lost way out here on the right coast. Sorry it took so long to get back and do an update. Thanks for keeping us on our toes and the prodding it took to get an update....Oh yeah, we finally posted the picture that we took of Becca's memorial marker at her gravesite.
We have been super busy trying to get and keep the cars and trucks for the race team up and running from week to week. We spend too many nights in the garage working with the mechanic, Jim, trying to tweak and fix and make them better. Heidi and I have been talking about ways to limit the time spent in the garage and have more family time, so we are working on that one.
Then adding to the schedule, we (OK....I) decided it was time to fix the leaky roof on the house. When we tore into it, we found lots of water damage to the roof / wall / structure. Even the foundation was cracked and had settled a few inches. We had to tear everything off of the back right corner of the house and rebuild it. Just a small 34 x 18 feet area..... We are now just starting the rebuild process and talk about a mess in the back yard, yukkkk. But an old friend of mine used to tell me, "ya gotta mess it up to make it better" so I guess we are doing it right.
Heidi is doing great. She is the sweet love of my life. She keeps getting her days switched around to help out the people that she works with so they can take vacation and stuff. Now we need to make time for us to take a vacation sometime, hmm without the children would be nice...hehehe.
The children are doing well also. They are happy that school is finally over for the year. Most did well, I think we only have one that will be doing summer school this summer, so that is a plus. Michelle has her driver's license now, so better be warned if you are on the street anywhere that she is out and about. She can come up with some funny excuses and places that she needs to go so she can drive. Guess she thinks that I was born with these gray hairs and didn't earn any of them....
Heidi and the kids gave me many cards and gifts for Father's Day. I am so lucky to have them, Heidi and the kids, not the gifts Tom. HEHE....
Not much else going on out here, just have to get home later today and keep working on the construction.
We hope all had a great Father's Day last weekend, and look forward to the July 4th holiday. We will try to be better about updating, but yunno me.....my memory isn't that good.....what was I talking about...LOL...Well, since I can't remember, I guess I will close.
Take care all, hug those close to you and tell them that you love them!!!!!!!!
John
