Maggie is a 13yo who was growing up a normal kid life until the summer of 2002. Instead, Maggie had a very large tumor removed from brainstem area on July 8th, 2002 at Children's in DC. Due to Maggie's posterior fosse syndrome she was transferred to Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore for inpatient rehabilitation for 3.5 months.
She has fought back hard over the past years and was improving until September 2006 new tumors and disemmenation of spine were diagnosed. A simple biopsy of the spine tumor set her back physically from all advances she had done. She has completed a year+ of Temodar and has remained stable throughout. January 2008 a VP shunt was put in as severe pressure had built up with her ventricles enlarging and could be the cause of her physical decline over the past year.

Thursday, April 24, 2008 3:12 PM CDT NO MORE CHEMO - YEA!!!!!!!
Maggie is doing so well they have stopped her chemo treatment - this is 6 mos earlier than planned. In fact, we were told today to stop all meds.
Her body is going to rejoice and be able to heal after 17 mos of harsh chemicals. This is all due to MRI comparision I requested to show if tumors were truly stable since beginning of treatment in Oct 2006 and the answer is YES!!
Thank you everyone for stopping by to check on Maggie.
