Welcome to Maggie's Page
Maggie is a 14yo who was growing up a normal kid until the summer of 2002. Instead, Maggie had a very large JPA tumor removed from brainstem area on July 8th, 2002. She has numerous physical and visual deficits from the tumor removal and is not the same child I sent into the operating room that day. She has lost her independence but not her love of life. That is something she shares with everyone who meets her.
Maggie has fought back hard over the past years through numerous surgeries, mris, chemo treatments - and through it all she has been strong. She is now stable on her most recent mri so there is hope the chemo has stopped further tumor growth. Maggie loves life but misses the social connection with others her age as kids her age do not seem to want to connect with her outside of school which is sad. Maggie has a brother Eric who is 10, a guinea pig Lexi, two dogs Duncan and Ralphie who keep her busy.

Thursday, June 25, 2009 11:25 AM CDT STABLE - the mri has come back stable. Further comparisions will be done on June mri to a year ago but for now we are happy with results. No treatment for now - drugs they are interested in using on her are 6-9mos out from approval.
Maggie is keeping very busy on Facebook - she seems to be addicted. She is really loving keeping with team from W&L.
Happy Summer all.
