Welcome to Joseph's page! Joseph was born on 2/3/00. We were expecting a healthy baby but things don't always go the way we plan. Joseph was a term baby but due to a tight cord and a fractured skull now has cerebral palsy. My first images of him are being ashen grey and lifeless. He was taken directly to the warmer where he had to be resuscitated. He then started having seizures. The main intro pic is my first pic of him. He was so sick and fragile I didn't even know if he would come home or not. It was the happiest and saddest moment in my life. He was in the NICU for almost 6 weeks and came home with a g-tube for feeding. The doctors gave us little hope that he would ever recover. We were told that he would be deaf, blind, cognitively impair, never eat by mouth and be wheelchair bound. Hard news to swallow for new parents. Other new parents bring home their baby and start their new life. We didn't even know if he would even live. Slowly, the Lord gave us signs that he would improve. We were able to stop the seizure meds when he was 4 months old bc he only had seizures from the initial birth trauma. He started to eat some by mouth and showed no cognitive impairments. We were able to have his feeding tube removed when he was 2 1/2 and is now a eating machine!! Joseph does has chronic medical issues. He has a Cerebral Palsy and recently seizures. His CP is the mixed kind but mainly Ataxic (lack of balance) and Choerathetoid (abnormal, uncontrollable, writhing movements of the arms and/or legs). This affects from motor control (gross and fine) to speech. Thanks to the Lord he continues to amaze us!I will keep you posted on Joseph's accomplishments!

Thursday, February 25, 2010 2:59 PM CST Well Joseph turned 10 on the 3rd. It's hard to believe it somedays and I know the Lord has helped us through some trying times. A good friend of his stayed the night. They had a great time. We're still trying to stop his seizures but I am thankful he only has then ocassionally. We're also trying to get in the birth injury program so please pray that he's accepted. Continue to pray for our peace and our understanding that the Lord has a plan.
