Jeffrey entered the Kingdom of Heaven on September 25, 2003.
Journal
Monday, September 25, 2006 8:38 PM CDT For five years now, our family has used this CaringBridge website to tell family, friends, and even complete strangers about our day-to-day fight against leukemia. Jeffrey carried the torch for two years before entering the Kingdom of Heaven. We don’t know why his time with us was so short, but we do know that he fulfilled his purpose – to bring greater love to the world through the suffering of an innocent child. We have become the bearer’s of Jeffrey’s Journey for the last three years, and forevermore until we join him. Jeffrey continues to touch the hearts of those around us.
On this, the third anniversary of his passing, Tasha and I made our traditional trip to Fairfax Memorial Park. While at Jeffrey’s gravesite, a woman approached us and said “Are you Jeffrey’s parents?” I cannot describe the intense joy at being called his parent - it has been so very long since Tasha and I were recognized with that honor. She went on, “My Mother passed away due to breast cancer two years after him and is buried nearby. My children and I were drawn to his marker and they ask me why he died so young.” We briefly told her our family story and she was deeply moved.
That is the purpose of the website. To communicate our family’s fight against leukemia, our grief and our continuing journey. The journey does not end here, even though we are discontinuing our updates on CaringBridge. Jeffrey’s Journey will continue to touch lives as it is shared again and again. And one day we hope and pray that researchers like Dr. Craig Vander Kooi will find a cure for this devastating disease.
Thank you for supporting us during a very difficult time in our lives. We hope to see many of you at Light the Night on October 7th.
