WELCOME TO JALEN'S PAGE! Welcome to Jalen's webpage. It has been created to keep family and friends updated on Jalen's treatment and progress in his fight with AML.
Jalen was diagnosed with Acute Myelogonous Leukemia in June of 2003. After several months of chemotherapy, Jalen's treatment came to an end and he was in remission for two months before relapsing in June, 2004. Chemotherapy was readministered and plans for Jalen to undergo a bone marrow transplant were made. We arrived at Duke University Medical Center on September 5th and Jalen received the bone marrow transplant on September 29th. Now we are waiting for those cells to GROW, GROW, GROW!!
As long as Jesus remains on the throne at the right hand of the Father, we know that sickness and disease is STILL defeated. Trials and tribulation come, but they only make us strong...they cannot destroy us. We will continue to press because we know that there is victory in the precious blood and the stripes of Jesus. We will not lose sight of the healing power that's in that blood and in the power of prayer.
"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose" Romans 8:28

Wednesday, June 8, 2005 4:22 PM CDT Hello, friends and family! I bet you thought that you would never hear from us again because its been 4 months, but we are still here and doing great!!! I hope all is well with all of you. God is GOOD...ALL of the time!! Jalen is doing great. We will be going back down to Duke for his 9 month studies on the 20th of this month (June). We are hoping that he will be taken off of some of the restrictions. He is feeling great and waiting for the green light to go full throttle!! We are excited about seeing our friends at Duke once again. Jalen has been very active, jumping on the trampoline, riding his bike, playing basketball, etc...whatever he can get into, he does! I cannot keep up with him these days. He did spike a fever some time last month and we had to spend the night at UVA. His cultures came up clear and it was determined that his body was fighting a cold. It certainly didn't slow him down any!! We are hoping that he will be able to attend basketball camp along with Nigel near the end of August. We will just have to see what Dr.Martin and Dr. Dunsmore will have to say about that. Well, I will update again after our visit to Duke. . .seriously! :) I just want to say that God's grace and mercy has brought us through and we owe ALL to Him! I am so glad to know Him as Saviour, Lord, Healer, Friend...He is everything!!! There is none like Him! Love you guys and be blessed!
