Welcome to Fisher’s Caringbridge Page

We have made this page so Fisher’s friends and family know how he is doing in his battle
with neurofibromatosis, and with brainstem/spinal cord tumors.
Fisher is a 7-year-old little boy who like most little boys, loves video games, Legos, Matchbox cars,
and Power Rangers. Fisher was born with a genetic disorder called “neurofibromatosis”.
This disorder causes tumors to grow on nerve endings. These tumors can grow anywhere
on the body, inside and out. Right now, Fisher has tumors growing inside his brainstem and in the
cervical part of his spine. He also has hamartomas, and other tumors growing throughout his brain.
He was on chemotherapy on a 66 week protocol. During his treatment, he would keep his mind occupied by playing Spyro on the Playstation. He would keep his spirits up by singing “Fisher’s Chemotherapy Song” (“Who Wouldn’t Want to Be Me” by Keith Urban to everyone else)
As of January 31, 2005, he has been off chemotherapy for a year. The tumors still try and throw scares into us, but for the most part they are remaining stable. Fisher still keeps his mind occupied by playing his Playstation 2 and his X-Box. He now keeps his spirits up by singing “Fisher’s Off Chemotherapy Song”
(“Days Go By” by Keith Urban). Fisher wants to make the most of every single day he has. Like the song says “Its all we’ve been givin’, so you better start livin’ right now ‘cause days go by”
Fisher has made lots of friends here on Caringbridge, and he would love it if you would go by and say hello to these very special kids. You can visit sharethelove.org to get the links.
Fisher also has a post office box and he loves to get cards and letters.

I know it has been ages since I have updated my pages. A good part of it is because Fisher and I were sick for a long time. I just started feeling better, and my sickness started in March. Mine started with bronchitis, sinus infection and strep throat. The bronchitis kept getting worse and worse. Then Fisher came down with the same thing. Bless his heart, when he gets sick, he really gets sick. He missed a lot of school. When he went back, he worked hard and made most of it up. So, my little hero is going to be in the FOURTH GRADE!! I am so proud of him. He is really an amazing kid.
Its getting about the time for me to start freaking out about every little thing he does. I really try hard not to associate it with his tumors. When school was in, he told me that he started falling a lot. (kind of a warning sign) Here lately, he runs to the bathroom, thinking he is going to throw up. (another warning sign) He has an MRI on August 1st. Please pray it all goes well. Whenever we get close to MRI time, I start acting like a paranoid freak.
Can y'all believe that he is going to TEN YEARS OLD soon?
Time really does fly by fast. We are trying to think of something super special for him for his big day. Suggestions are welcome!!
Thanks for reading. We love you all.

With love from Va,
Carolyn
