Our Angel Amanda Leigh Ellis

Amanda was diagnosed on November 15, 2002, at the age of 5 months with accute lymphocytic leukemia. She was in remission, and after 16 months of chemo, Amanda relapsed. We tried many things to get Amanda back into remission, including more chemo, going to Duke for bone marrow transplant, but could not get. We also went to Johns Hopkins for her to be on the tail end of the study Clofarabine, which is now the FIRST NEW drug for CHILDREN since 1980.
She fought a hard fight, and earned her angel wings on January 5, 2005.
We miss her very much!

Journal

Well, it has been quite a while since I updated! First, if you were a follower before, let me tell you. The boys are now in middle school! When we started this journey with Amanda, Matt was 4, Josh was 2, and Amanda was 5 months old! Today, Matt is 13, Josh is 12, and Amanda is forever 2 in our hearts or 10 in Heaven!!!
God has been good to us!
Second, I am substituting in Appomattox where our boys attend school. I love going in and working with the kids and teachers! This year I became the PTO President! I thought that was enough! Then He showed up in a BIG way! More about that in a few min! Chris is back @ Gleaning for the World and is the Director of the Teddy Bear Brigade. They collect stuffed animals and send them to disaster relief (US and abroad), orphanages, countries that have need for them!
Lastly, here in the last few years, a friend of mine, Dawn and I have that conversation about the lack of awareness and knowledge about pediatric cancer. The end of August, I was praying about this, and God showed me that through facebook, I could get children who are battling cancer and their pictures and stories out. Not much, but it was fun! I contacted some families that I know that have had children battling or are now battling. Dawn's son, Nathan, has been battling brain tumors and spinal tumors. They have been doing chemo, surgery, and just found out that both are aggressively growing again. When Nathan and his family got home a few weeks ago, Nathan asked to have the Christmas Tree put up. They did!!! Gleaning for the World had just had a sleigh donated! They were in staff meeting and talking and praying for Nathan. Ron asked if they could do a little news story with the local news when they delivered the sleigh and some things from the Employee! What started out little, GOD HAS MADE HUGE!!!
We are partnering with them more this year making Christmas bags. I will post the list for that at the bottom of this page! We are making girl/boy bags!
Keep an eye on the different things going on and how you can help!!! Next Sept, we are planning a walk/run to help raise awareness for childhood cancer!

Here is the list!

Bibles-we may have most/all of these covered
Gospel Tracts for Children

Jeremiah 29:11
