God Bless you all! I have not read the complete journal, however I have read enought to know that life has been an adventure much unlike what you could ever dream it to be. I have been encouraged that you could state exactly how you feel in your entries - not sugar coated and 'yuppie nice' but actual feelings. That really is what life is like no matter how 'nice' you want to be sometimes overwhelmed is not always nice. I have accessed this site through a two year old friends site from Minnesota - Tori Roth. Which lead me to Utah's Devin Ross's site - with the great poem 'Cancer In Seussical Form'. Tuli you and your family are remarkable and I will be adding you to my prayer list. I am grateful that Lia is doing well also! What a large and loving family! God bless you all!!

Wow! I am praying hard for things to go right! It was hard for me when we were told Daniel had a rare brain and spine disorder.... two children with serious and rare birth defects. I am not sure who cried more, me or our Pediatrician and nurses. Yet we are making it. How? The Lord. It isn't easy, but we are making it. Day by day.

Mom recently took all the IV supplies out of my medical cabinet because my port was removed a couple weeks ago. I know what you mean about needing a vacation from vacation lol. Great news on the scans! I really hope the theatre works out. In high school, I was in the NFL (National Forensics League) which had competitive speaking and drama competitions. I loved it because I could compete and get medals-plus for Tuli's Dad, he can honestly say NFL :). I love all your pictures.
A comment on the PT- I understand. Our insurance cut our therapy when I was eight saying not 'medically necessary' (they want to fix it-not maintenance/prevention). When they cut us, the therapist gave us this list of stretches and said at least 15 minutes each position-preferably 30 atleast twice a week. It worked out to be 4 hours! And stretching hurts! We tryed it one summer but it was miserable and unrealistic. Maybe some more practical exercises like put on a good CD and dance. Dancing's great exercise.
Hope this is a good week.

Hi Janelle,
So glad the scans were good and stable. That is terrific news. I'm sorry we didn't hook up either. I went by the clinic after we finished and they said you didn't come in until 1;30.....I was actually surprised they told me that much info................you know with all the HIPPA crap they have now. I guess they only do that when its convenient...good thing I wasn't a stalker!!
Anyway, sounds like you ran into Heidi....the wonderful, optimistic, PT gal. Isn't she something else.........when Devin had the blood clots in his brain she suggested we get him involved in ICE HOCKEY...........I about fell on the floor laughing...........here we couldn't let the kid go to the bathroom alone, ride his bike....etc., etc., but this 'EXPERT' was suggesting ice hockey. If she feels he needs some PT...there is an EXCELLENT PT guy over in Taylorsville.........its Primary too and he has LOTS of experience dealing with chemo kids. Let me know if you want his number.
The appt. yesterday went good. I learned LOTS of info...I think you should get an appt. to go talk to her.....she was under the impression that ALL of the chemo kids were going to be tested BEFORE and AFTER they finished chemo....hmmmmm...........interesting.
Call me when you get a free minute. I'm home today, but gone for testing all day tomorrow.
Miss you guys!!

Hi Janelle,
Well, in order to get Devin's scans set up I actually SHOWED UP in clinic........I had spent sooooooooooooooo many hours on the phone only to be told "they would check about it, and call me back"... well I had just about enough of that crap, so I just made a surprise visit........you may have to do the same.
This newest situation: The psychologist called 5 times and NO ONE called him from oncology.....he finally called the ON CALL and was told that Devin probably needed an MRI, BUT neurology would have to set it up.........that ONCOLOGY couldn't set up scans. What a load of crap!!!
Anyway, I"m in a crap mood and if you want someone to go up there and get mean, just call me.....I'll be there.
Miss talking to you.

Hi Tuli no cast for Christmas...terrific!
My experience decorating a tree with small children is that the grandchildren put most of the ornaments clumped together on the lower branches. I thought that was cute. They went to bed, and my cat simply walked under the tree and WHAM, it fell over. So, I got it back up and redecorated, but when the kids woke up, they wanted to know why the ornaments had been moved. Now I always tie my tree up to nails in the wall.

Good Morning from Oklahoma!!
So glad to hear that the surgery is done, and Tuli is home. I'll bet his sister was thrilled to see him at home to help celebrate her birthday---and another birthday right around the corner. Sounds like an exciting week at your house.
That is nice of your folks to bring down the wheelchair for Tuli so he won't miss out on trick-or-treating. Did you know that the year Devin was first diagnosed-- and very weak--that his Dad took him around the neighborhood in their big wagon---in the snow no less!! They had a wonderful time---and I bet you will too!!
Praying for a very speedy recovery and good scans!!

Wow! First of all let me say, your webpage is great! Second of all, I spent hours reading your entries and cried so many times my family thought something was majorly wrong. My 17 year old son (caringbridge.org/sd/mikehatch) went through osteogenic sarcoma of the right femur. Many of your entries made me relive his fight and our feelings as he went through his three surgeries, chemo and numerous doctor appointments. Most of all, he also has had lung nodules they have been watching since the first half of his chemo. The doctors watch them pretty closely. One doctor told us that the kids that have them removed say it's not much worse than Adrimyiacin - msp? chemo. We've never found out because they have never changed. Another doctor told us that anyone/everyone could have them but unless you dissect the lung like the CT scan does, you wouldn't know it. A change is what they look for. Your son seems to be a well adjusted boy, much more "normal" than an average nine year old. The compassion and spirit that these "little fighters" exhibit is amazing isn’t it! I would like to put Tuli’s page in our links if that is OK. Thank you for expressing your feelings in your entries. GOD Bless.

It is always nice to find another Member of the church going through similar things. While Sean doesn't have cancer, he has his own set of medical issues to deal with. I still keep telling myself to reread the Book of Mormon, but I find an excuse, but after reading your entry, I will be reading every moment I get. I pray for Tuli's scans to go well. Surgery too. It is always hard to have another surgery when the first one was to be the "Cure all". We have had to deal with multiple surgeries this year after our 'cure all' failed. We are still facing the possibility of another before the year is out. I just realized it was nearly a year ago we made the decision to do the "cure all' surgery. My has the year go by fast! I will pray for good news for Tuli. Peace, comfort always~

Hi Tuli,
I am so jealous you got to go to Six Flags! I went once to the one outside of Chicago in like 1985 with my summer orchestra group. I had so much fun, but (this is funny) the girl who was my partner so we always had another person with us and I got seperated from the rest of the girls we were with, so we went to the lost & found to have the girls paged. They asked us how old we were, so we told the truth and said we were 12. They said we couldn't go until our teacher got us because we weren't 13!!! Man, I was so mad. We tried to do the right thing and had to spend half the day playing Uno with a guy in a stupid Foghorn Leghorn suit. They finally decided we were mature enough to go, but by that time the day was pretty much over. Grrrr.
Now, I'd jump up and down with glee if someone asked me if I was 12, lol.
I hope you and your family are doing well and you are having a good Autumn so far.

Hi Tuli, first of all let me say that I love all your hair and you are such a cut-ie. Janelle, thank you for checking in on Trisha's web page, it is good to hear from you. And Janelle, don't beat yourself up over the insurance thing, maybe it was meant to be for whatever reason, we pay into these insurance companies and they sure don't make it easy when it comes time to use it. Oh well, enjoy the time off, it is well deserved! Go paint the house if you want, just forget about the rude people in life, obviously they are miserable people and probably go through life without enjoy a minute of it. Oh and Tuli's dad, I love the pics and the slide show, great job! I will be checking back in to see when Tuli's surgery will be and I'm always praying for our children. Hi Janelle,
I decided one of those RFL a year was probably enough. Cancer just sucks the energy out of me...and to think of sitting through another group of people tell their story, then the luminarias...honestly I just couldnt' do it again..at least not so soon. Know what I mean??
Its been super duper busy here. I'll be glad when we can have some quiet time..probably won't happen soon, but sometime in the near future. The kids are out again this Friday...maybe we could do the drive-in mid-week?? It was PACKED last night, but fun...at least until the wind kicked up.
Talk to you soon,

Happy Mothers Day!
Have a wonderful Mother’s Day! Here are some thoughts on mothers:
A Child’s Angel
Once upon a time, there was a child ready to be born. So one day he asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God replied, "Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child said, "But tell me, here in Heaven, I don't do anything else but sing and smile. That's enough for me to be happy. And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me, if I don't know the language that men talk?"
God replied, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
The child questioned, "And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God replied, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
The child said, "I've heard that there are bad men on earth. Who will protect me?" God replied, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking her own life."
The child said, "But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God replied, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way for you to come back to me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment, there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from earth could already be heard. The child, in a hurry, asked softly, "Oh God! If I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God replied, "Your angel's name is of no importance. You will simply call her MOMMY."
Hope things calm down soon.
Take care, Christamae

Janelle...
Just not enough excitement in your life, huh? Sorry about that...I hear that is VERY painful. Hopefully the diet change will get things in order...you're right it is so hard to try and eat right with so many easy, pre-packaged options at our disposal.
Hope you guys have a great Mother's Day weekend,
You're a great mom and sweet friend!!
