Olivia is now an 11 year old miracle--Yesterday was such a low key day (except for the girls joking about her actual birth time of 9:30 PM, so she had to wait until then for her Happy Birthday wishes!)she just asked for Chick-fila and cupcakes to be delivered to her lunch at school. We had a little family get together last weekend for Olivia/Katlin's birthday/Easter, and then she will have a birthday party sleepover with some friends next week. We hope to do this at the hotel in Dallas where we took Maddie for her birthday (with the help of our friend who works there). That way they get to sleep in a fancy bed, swim, do something different.
Olivia is doing beautifully! She is a bit (little bit) taller, little bit thinner, her hair is longer, she sometimes wears glasses, and she only acts like a 30 year old now. Libby is involved in several clubs at school, reads the school announcements over the intercom weekly, helps tutor younger kids, and is still the teachers pet to several current and past teachers.
I can't believe she will be moving up to middle school next year--although Maddie entereing High School is probably a bigger adjustment. Olivia surprised us when she told us that rather than being in choir (like Maddie and Tyler) she want to be in orchestra. She wants to play the cello! We took her to the meet the teacher/play with the instruments night at the school and she actually got to handle/play the different instruments to get a feel for them and she looks pretty darn cute holding that big ole' thing! I don't think her calling in life will be in orchestra, but maybe she can put herself through college that way... She is so excited about this part of 6th grade and talks about it all the time.
Olivia was also invited to camp again this year and, of course, intends to go. That is her July plan. The kids get out of school in early June, we are planning to go to CA the end of June for a wedding (Yeah Melissa!!) and we get to keep Katlin until the end of July. Katlin is in between tours and will be home to play with us all until her next tour begins. Just to consider all options, Katlin and Maddie have driven to Austin for the weekend so Katlin can audition again for Disney Cruise Lines. Maddie is so excited to be invited along on an adventure with Katie and see how a professional audition works. Hopefully they will offer something so that she has a choice... Tyler will be in Kansas this summer again which is what he really hoped for, so we are hoping to see him several times as well. What can I say, I have really good, fun kids and we all love being together. Weird huh?
My job is finally getting a bit better, unfortunately Joseph's position at work was layed off. In order to remain employed (and keep our health insurance) he had to take a demotion and a big pay cut. Sucks! Our finances which were always a challenge really stink now. I know, whose don't? We are just lucky that we both are still working, we are all healthy (Thank God) and finding ways to get by. Joseph is more strongly pursuing adding more home student with vocal classes as well as the usual tap. THis is a nice option because at least he can sleep between classes, and they come to him so no travel costs incurred. Our kids are also such oddballs in that they understand our money problems and have been wonderful at helping to keep costs down, and make do with alot less. As I said, I have wonderful kids.
I can't believe our day to day life is so peaceful and fun. We are so very lucky to have as much as we do--every day really is a gift. Enjoy!
God Bless,
Kandis
