Saturday, September 20, 2008 10:26 PM CDT Yes...we are still here!!
For those diehards who continue to hang in there with us---thank you for your continued thoughts and support. We are fine, soooo busy, healthy, happy, and going strong!
We had a great summer---Olivia was so sad for school to end, but she took some swim lessons, ran around the neighborhood with some friends (chasing each other with water guns, jumping on the trampoline, playing tetherball, and even playing group games on the computer when it was too hot outside). Katlin came home from Dubai and promptly became everyones favorite toy and distraction; she teased, cuddled, tickled, read with, shopped with, swam with, and entertained Olivia, Maddie and Isabel for the remainder of the summer. Cheap entertainment and also priceless.
We went to Wichita twice to see Tyler perform and had a great time. Tyler was only home for 2 weeks before he went back to Michigan. Joseph and Tyler loaded up the van and drove him up to school where they moved him into his new 7 bedroom house that he shares with 6 roommates! So far he is having a blast (has already gotten a part in a Fall show that I am trying to figure out how to see...). Joseph decided to go siteseeing on the way home from Michigan and took 3 days to drive home through heaven knows what states. When he got home he looked well rested, tan and had a new beard (which I love!!!).
Now that school has started and the girls are settling into a stricter schedule, they are doing well, making new friends, and growing taller suddenly. Maddie is just as pretty as ever, but has stopped flatironing her hair since Katlin returned home, coincidence?. Now when you see one of them in passing they look so alike we have to look twice! Isabel is still wearing her expander in her mouth and her teeth are actually moving into a better place. I don't know if it is that or her hair cut that makes her look so old all of a sudden, but she is no longer the baby!
Miss Olivia is doing so well. She is a little chubby and we are working on that, but she is healthy, happy, loves school (hates the school holidays!), has a couple of really good friends, but loves hanging with her big sis Katlin more than anything. I have been replaced quite a bit, and while it makes me a little sad sometimes I am thrilled too. She and Katlin are very close, they always have had a special relationship since Katie was a second mom/playmate/sister for so many years. The plans to move to CA have been put on hold for Katlin at least until Christmas which is just fine with all of us. She is taking 4 classes at the community college and looking for a job that is close to home to keep her busy and pad her bank account.
Joseph is taking on all OT that he can find, so is pretty busy. He has taken on some new tap students so his at home teaching schedule is growing again, plus he is now giving all our girls some voice lessons which they have alot of fun doing. Now if he could just get them to put on their tap shoes...
We are coming up on Olivia's 4th Re-Birthday, a little over a month away. It boggles my mind that it has been 4 whole years since the transplant, and yet it was another lifetime ago. I have finally stopped anticipating relapse anniversaries (apparently, since we just passed one last month--I just remembered it!). We are moving forward, watching the kids grow up and become more amazing every day. More funny, lovely, loving, wonderful people, and we are so fortunate to be a part of their lives. I am thankful every day that these cool kids are mine---how lucky am I?
Many, many hugs,
Kandis
