Matthews Page

Matthew is a very outgoing 11 year old boy that loves hunting and fishing and anything outdoors. He has an 13 year old brother, Dustin,8 year old sister, Kimberly, 7 year old sister, Chae, and a 6 year old brother, Jeremiah. He is much loved by his dad and mom and Rebecca and Jeremy Johnson. Matthew's page has been provided to keep friends and family updated about him and his prognosis. He was diagnosed 10/27/04 with medulloblastoma. He underwent brain surgery 10/29/04 at Cook Childrens Hospital in Ft Worth, Texas.

Hi everyone,
I know it has been a long time since I have updated this site. Truth is I just been to busy to sit at the computer. Matthew as been doing chemo since Febuary. Good news is he will get his last chemo treatment on January 12 2006, less than a month away.He has done pretty well through out his chemo. He really hasn't been sick with it. His biggest challange has been his blood counts. About a week after recieving his first dose of a new round, he counts drops and he is back at the hospital getting blood and platlet transfusions. Matt just got out of the hospital yesterday from yet another transfusion. This time he recieved three bags of blood and one bag of platlets. In September we had a big scare, when his medi-port got a staff infection. The doctors almost had to surgicaly remove it. With lots of strong antibiotics they got he infection under control. Matthew is getting stronger every day. Last week his new physical theripist came out to do a evaluation, to see how much he can do. Matthew had a BIG SURPRISE for all of us. He got up and walked about fifty feet with NO assistance! It wont be long and he will be up and running. Thank you all for your concern and support. I will do my best to keep this site updated more often.
