Kyle's journey

Everyone please meet Kyle
he's our man of the day
Welcome to his web site,
his newly designed page

We heard that he likes Dora,
Ollie and Thomas The Train too
So we've brought them all together
and wrapped them in shades of blue

Look at that smile upon his face
he sure can brighten anyone's day
He's a one in a million cutie pie
we adore him, what more can we say

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes
some are big, some are brawny and tall
Our hero has the heart of a lion, and
the strength of a giant for one so small

As you read his story and get to know him
you will see how this brave little guy
Can wrap everyone around his finger
and then become the apple of your eye

We welcome you to stop by quite often
we'll have pictures and updates on Kyle
And we guarantee as you sign the guestbook
you will leave with a great big Kyle smile

Kyle's Story

This website was created to keep
our family and friends updated
on Kyle's fight with ALL Leukemia.

Kyle was diagnosed with ALL
Leukemia on Feb.5, 2004.
He was admitted in the hospital that night.
The next morning Kyle had a Spinal Tap
to diagnose it properly. It came back that
he had ALL Leukemia T-cell
and in the nervous system-which meant
more aggressive treatment.

On October 3,2005 Kyle relapsed in his CNS.
He is doing intense chemo then
undergoing radiation therapy.
In addition to Leukemia,
Kyle also has Asperger Syndrome
which is on the Autism Spectrum.
St.Jude helped with having Kyle evaluated
and the proper therapy. He is enrolled
in the Early Intervention program
with Shelby County Schools.
However it is hard for him
to go on a regular basis because
of his chemo treatments and
weaken immune system.
Kyle is a strong boy fighting a big battle,
but not bigger than God.
We cherish each day and stay close
to God as he carries us through this journey.

Five Days after Kyle relapsed we found out Kevin (Kyle's Dad) would be fighting the biggest battle of his life. He was dx with Esphagus-Gastric Cancer October 2005. Kevin began treatment with a sugery to remove 1/3 of his stomach, 1/3 of esphagus and 5 lymph nodes. After recovery from the sugery he began 6 weeks of intense chemo and radiation. Kyle and Kevin were doing radiation at the same time. Kyle would go in the morning and Kevin would go in the afternoon. Kevin then ended his treatment with 4 big rounds of chemo. Kevin was not working for 9 months. He went back July 2006. With prayers and support from all over the world and God's grace we have been blessed through this journey. God put certain people in our lives to carry us through this. We have learned about the true meaning of giving, friendship and family. The little things don't matter and we truly live for today. God does not promise a smooth ride, but he does promise to stand by us and guide us through every life challenge.
This is our story......

We hope our experience with cancer ends here! Kyle completed his treatment July 10, 2007! 3 1/2 years later, relapse and all Kyle is a typical 6 year old boy! For those people who read this and just had a child diagnoised with Leukemia or another family memeber diagnoised with cancer let our story be your hope! It has been a long road, but very rewarding along the way!

I watch you playing,
Without a care.
It's hard to believe
The cancer is there.

You look so bright,
So happy and well.
If someone new met you
They couldn't tell.

Your strength is amazing,
Your courage so strong.
You've fought this disease
So well for so long.

It's from your strength,
that I draw mine.
I know you will come through this,
It'll just take time.
Carry on smiling,
I will too.
Through the hard times
I'll carry you.

You are my world,
The air that I breathe,
I know in my heart
You'll never leave.

Keep strong my love,
The battle has begun,
But with your strength,
It will be won.

Joshua 1:9, "Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be terrified;
do not be discouraged, for the Lord your
God will be with you wherever you go." (NIV)

"A weary Christian lay awake one night trying to
hold the world together by his worrying.
Then he heard the Lord gently say,
"You can go to sleep now I'll sit up".

Ruth Bell Graham

You know you're the parent of a kid with cancer when....
Kids with hair look strange to you! ;-)
You can sleep anywhere and anything
that reclines more than 15 degrees looks 'comfy' ;-)
You don't realize the sharps container
is on the kitchen table until halfway through dinner ;-}
You enjoy the trip to the hospital at
3am because there aren't any cars on
the highway ;-)
You hear a truck backing up and
think it's the IV alarm beeping ;-)
Med students ask to borrow your notes ;-)

You wrap presents and packages
with surgical tape ;-)
Waiting
for an hour doesn't seem a long
time anymore compared to the wait
at the doctor’s appointments-

You have syringes in your cutlery rack in the dishwasher
Every little thing can make you cry but this list has you rolling on the floor ; -)

Hi-
If you are still checking on us-sorry for the long delay. Kyle's appointment was great. All his numbers are good. His platletts are little low, but normal for Kyle. His next appoitment at St.jude is next July! Dr.R said we can get his counts checked at our local doctor's office in Jan.. Kyle started 1st grade and Jordyn started K. Kyle will start a Drama class this week so we will see how that goes.

Kevin switched Oncologist to one here in Dallas just for convience reason. His name is Dr.Cartwritght. Kevin's first question was "can he get his port out" Dr. Cartwright saw no reason not too. So Kevin finally had his port removed August 15. He recovered quickly and will be having a cat scan in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for your continue prayers!
