Kaycey Anne Gonzalez
Welcome to Kaycey's Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about Kaycey.
Kaycey was born with several Congenital Heart Defects and was diagnosed with Primary Pulmonary Hypertension.
She was placed on the National Organ Donor List on July 19, 2000 for a heart & double/lung transplant. We relocated to St. Louis in April 2001. Kaycey was transplanted on September 10, 2003.
In November 2003, she became ill with RSV. The virus destroyed her new lungs and brought with it the onset of Bronchiolitis Obliterans. Kaycey is now in need of new lungs and was placed back on the donor list on July 21, 2004. Kaycey was removed from the transplant list in July 2005, due to the discovery of Coronary Artery Disease. She ended her fight with disease and suffering on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at 5:50 a.m. I know she is above us with all the angels, probably teaching them how to love hard and laugh alot! Please continue to pray for our strength and courage!
Journal
Friday, April 13, 2007 12:49 AM CDT Hi everyone! I am sure you thought I forgot about this page. I guess I just have a hard time returning to it, since I can't update you anymore on Kaycey.
I will tell you that each and everyday, I think about her and I miss her tremendously. She was my person that I shared everything with and that is a big reminder to me that she is gone.
On a brighter note, Adriana continues to do fantastic in school. She is reading at a 4th grade level in 2nd grade and is already doing 3rd grade level Math.
She is starting to struggle with missing her sister and we are having trouble getting her to sleep in her own room. She gets angry much quicker and talks about Kaycey continuously. We have started her in a counseling program for children who are dealing with grief and hopefully that will help.
Jorge continues to work hard and helps with Ana more and more. I have gone back to work and am working 2nd shift at the St. Louis County Jail in the bonding department. I am called on alot to translate and that is great for helping me to continue to improve my Spanish.
Ana celebrates her First Communion tomorrow and her godmother Kris is here from Minnesota. Ana's dress is beautiful and I can't wait to take pictures of her in it all dressed up.
She is doing competitive dance and that keeps us ALL very busy. Well, I am at work early to do this update and check on my email so I better be going.
Hope all is well with everyone.
God Bless -
Erin
